If I got back into a super duty, I'd go for something similar. I've had 4 diesels, but the diesel benefits have eroded between emissions BS and the gas engines getting better. I'm excited to see how the new 6.8 turns out. I swapped my last diesel truck out for a 2019 f150 3.5 ecoboost with the max tow package 3 years ago. The ecoboosts are no joke. They tow a lot better than most people realize and are stupid fast when tuned.
@andrewrife62532 жыл бұрын
I'd bet the 6.8 will be 400hp at least. 400 seems to be the benchmark for 1/2 tons and the 6.8 would be really easy to make 400 reliably. The 7.3 will probably be 450hp with closer to 500ftlbs of torque and will likely make the old 7.3 and 6.0 diesels irrelevant in power. People are getting much more with just tuning but in factory conditions I see these engines really changing the game.

Rear and front cameras are great. Smart cruise control is awesome. Wireless Android Auto. 👍🏻 I'd pay a reasonable price for all of these features. Leather interior is fantastic but in a work truck? It's about value for my money and I just don't see the value there. I can't even really pull the trigger on a base truck because I do tech work from home and probably drive a thousand miles a year. Great interview and very useful information, thanks JD. I sure would like to have one of the new Tremors. The only drawback to the Ford Tremor I can see is that they do not make it with the long bed. GMC's AT4 does, which for me is the only advantage that gmc has over the Ford. I've had several pickups with the 8 foot bed and several with the 6.5 foot bed, and the 8 foot bed wins hands down every time for utility. Especially if you put an auxiliary fuel tank in the bed, or a tool box. Once you add either one of those to a short bed, there's just not much room left in the bed.

They all copy each other and try to make improvements that they think customers will like. Chevy originally made fun of the tailgate step saying men don’t need steps, then developed their bumper step and side step to compete with Ford. Just like how everyone has cameras everywhere copying ford. The 2 different diesel options having a HO is like Ram does. Chevy is copying the winch. Ford is getting the HUD. Soon they will all add the tailgate camera. Everyone try’s to complete with the competition and copy what sells which is better for consumers. Because they are all similar and are all reliable nowadays you can shop price more than brand options.

The new super duty is awesome, but the prices are nuts, I was looking at a 21 model for 55k then the same trim in a 22 went to 61k, now add all the new cool standard features, at what cost Ford has just priced me out of range.
@RideOrDie7172 жыл бұрын
I have a neighbor who bought a 19 f350 platinum for $85k 4 door short bed. 55-65k for a new truck is kinda cheap like a 2023 f350/450 platinum or limited should 100% be $100k-$120k after all taxes and be on a 22’ wheel that’s not cast iron
@WilliamsonRidge2 жыл бұрын
@@RideOrDie717 it not cheap when your budget was $55k and the price went to $61k and the 23 model year is going to be higher which in turn prices it even higher past my budget, meaning the prices rising are making it impossible for me to purchase a truck within my budget, it is also making me look to other brands such as Ram because you can still get one at a lower price for the same trim level equivalent

Trucks in general are way over priced and too complex for the average owner to work on.
@msanc3152 жыл бұрын
@Samuel Wasberg dude seriously. Less than 2 years ago you could uy a semi truck for a 130K and you're saying these pickup trucks are priced where they should be
@Buzzmonkey242 жыл бұрын
nice trucks if they got the chips, also gotz to get pre approved for a second mortgage for these new trucks is the American Way right lol. But also those step ups should be standard in all bed trucks i mean really.

what's gonna happen to all those 40,000 superduitys in KY? I would be interested in a incomplete vehicle if the price was right!

It's funny how manufacturers stick with certain numbers. Having a 7.3L diesel in the past, to a gas engine with the same displacement number today. The Triton V10 was a 6.8L engine as well. Kind of humorous. It's also humorous that they copied GM with the integrated side and bumper steps. Ram has some catching up to do!

These aren't little 80's trucks anymore? The 70's highboy has something to say about that 😉

I had a 1984 F-250 460 or 7.5 gasoline motor ( FORD you need to put these back on the Road ). That got 15 or more MPG. Diesel engines were not widely available then. My 2019 F-250 6.7 Diesel engine is getting around 15 MPG. That engine is great, fast, tough but in 35+ years of innovation and fuel at $4 to $5 per gallon... Why isn't the miles per gallon better?

Ok When are these due to show up in Stealerships. I can see them throwing on $15K to price tag. Excellent video

I am happy that they are making the motors better. So they added the standard GMC steps in the bumper and bedsides. I am not seeing any innovation in the truck, I am only seeing them acquire standard features from other makers. Just give credit to the origins and be honest.

You said 10 speed was all new “for gas engines” but they’ve been offering it on the 7.3 “Godzilla” since it came out.
@theroadroamers26182 жыл бұрын
Correct me if I'm wrong...You said in this video, and I am surprised that the Ford engineer didn't Correct you, that this is the first time the gas engines in the super duty will have a 10 speed transmission....I'm driving a 2021 F350 with a 7.3L gas engine with a 10 speed transmission....

Good video. I don't know if you asked any of the engineers or any Ford people but that side step. Is it an option or is it standard?

On the 7.3 Godzilla, HP stays the same 430 and torque increases by 10 ft lbs from 475 to 485.. Unless that torque comes on WAY earlier in the RPM range, I really don't see a reason to wait to get the 7.3 engine in 2023.

When will they make diesel hybrid SD truck? Like the locomotive train since 1950.

So it we’ll have the same weak points as the 7.3. Cam/lifters at least they are easy to work on.
