This recipe was every poor family's daily food. My mother had been preparing this dish for years. She called it 'Dal-tikki.' I'm 23 years old and have been eating this since I was a child. My husband is Bihari but I'm Bangali. We live in Kolkata. Dal pitthi ek bar kisike Ghar taste Kiya tha but I didn't like the taste. Wo mung dal ka bana hua tha. She didn't added any spices that's why the taste was very dull. Yesterday night i made this recipe by follow ur recipe for my husband. He just love it and he was very happy.. It really tastes awesome as my husband is from Bihar....and he cooks awesome daal pitthi, the only difference I found is he adds few more things in the dough like ajwain, kalongi, grated adrak and chilli and ofcourse salt...but hats off to you that you are bringing rooted cuisines....

Oh...my God. I completely forgot that I used to have this recipe when I was small. I even forgot it's name. I hardly used to like it when I was a kid but as I grew up ( 13 or 14) somehow I developed some good taste for it. Thank you for reminding. I want to have it now. Note - I think my mother used to cook that Dulhan and Dulha together in the pressure cooker. No separate cooking. And while I am writing this...i cannot stop laughing.

Good morning kunalji, this dish almost looks like Gujarati dal dhokli . The difference is we use jaggery and lemon or cocum for sweet and tangy taste . The shape of dhokli is looks beautiful 😍 sometimes I am making dal potli in which I am making potato stuffed dhokli . A perfect one pot meal . Also if you add little ghee on top gives amazing flavor to dal dhokli . Thank you for sharing lovely recipe 🙏

Gujrati dal dhokli is quite different thing..Both can't be called similar only for fact that both cooked in dal lol.

Thanks a lot! I'll definitely try this recipe. Gujarati dal dhokli is similar. The main difference is the shape of dulhan(salt and masalas are added)and addition of garlic and onion in the dal.
