Fish curry is an important delicacy in Bihar. This video show you its brief preparation. To prepare this first of all we get fresh fish. Here we are taking rohu fish also called rui, ruhi or roho labeo. Its biological name is labeo rohita.
Fish curry and rice is an ideal meal combination in bihar and its adjoining states. After buying rohu fish we get it cleaned at the fisherman shop. We wash it at home to remove the smell. Further we mix it up with spices like turmeric power, red chilly powder and salt and deep fry it in mustard oil.
Once the fish is fried you can consume it or make gravy and add it. To make gravy you should use chopped onion, tomato, methi, mustard seeds paste, garlic paste, turmeric paste and other spices. Fry it in oil and add sugar to taste. When it boils add fried fish pieces to it. Boil it for five to ten minutes and your Bihari fish curry is ready. Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves. Fish curry is better consumed with rice and wheat chapati.
