Another tip: When you have your bike repaired, add lights and other gadgets, save those receipts as well, because they will increase the amount of money that you receive in the event the bike is stolen

Woah! I recently visited CPH and I was kinda surprised people seemed to not lock their bikes at all. I had no idea bikes were stolen that much!

Estoy considerando ir con mi familia a vivir a CPH en algún momento y todo lo que cuentas me parece muy interesante para poder tomar una decisión en algún momento. Tengo una sugerencia de contenido por si te apeteciera en algún momento: "School selection" (o algo así). Mi caso de uso es: "Familia con un niño quiere irse a vivir a CPH pero se plantea a qué escuela llevarle (y de ahí elegir una vivienda cercana) y se plantea el tema qué curriculum seguir (IB/British/alguno de Copenhague?). Como ves tengo muchas dudas 🤣. Muchas gracias de nuevo por tu contenido 🙇🏻‍♂

Hi Mario, I would like to add that an airtag is not the best idea due to the fact that they were not designed for that and if the thief has an iphone they will quickly learn that there is an airtag attached to the bike tracking them. furthermore I would also mention that you should make sure to have the right lock for insurance to actually work for your stolen bike. not sure exactly how you prove that though.

I very much recommend the GPS tracker! I have a Babboe with a module from CPH Trackers, it got stolen THREE times (each time as an opportunity theft because we didn’t secure it with the heavy chain for whatever reason, and we’re in a very quiet side passage of the main street), and each time I could locate it very precisely and recovered it within 48h (twice nearby in our neighbourhood Østerbro, and once further out in Gladsaxe). I think I can count myself incredibly lucky 😅

Can you share how it was when getting it back? Did you confront someone?

@@equiz I didn’t have to confront anyone in all instances. The second time it was clearly done by organised “professionals”, as the ring lock was cleanly cut, and I found my bike next to another cargo bike, each covered under a big raincover, parked next to a “dodgy” building in Østerbro. I reported the location to the police, along with the serial number of the other bike (no idea what happened to it after that). The third time the (new) ring lock was also cleanly cut, and I found it in a student accommodation complex, parked in a bike rack. A dude was watching me from his kitchen window as I was talking to the police on the phone and recovering my bike but didn’t interfere in any way. Also I was lucky the bike was not chained or locked each time, so I didn’t have to wait for the police to come and cut it free (I carried proof of purchase with me, they need that to do anything). Besides the ring lock no damage was done to the bike. The ride home on an empty battery from Gladsaxe while holding my regular bike on the side was not fun though 😅
