What's faster on dirt: An Ariel Nomad or a pro on a Suzuki?

Its hard to care about the car when the kid on the bike is riding that thing like a legend
@mocioclistu9 жыл бұрын
As a bike guy, yay bike is faster! However the big difference is the average driver can get in that car and do a decent time on that road. That RMZ450 would grab the average motorcyclist by the throat and punch him in the face until it needed a valve adjustment.
@bimmer6669 жыл бұрын
+mocioclistu right. Motocross racebikes are not comparable to street bikes. They want to rip your arms of, much more than any 200hp streetbike. No smooth 2-4 cylinder cruising. Instant power that will fear anybody who has never ridden one.

Moral of the story, an average car driver is quicker than the average bike driver.

L Jones no he's saying the bike is too powerful for an average skilled rider or driver.. The nomad is way easier to handle right off the bat than the bike.
@manicmute94407 жыл бұрын
L3 - Cars in general are easier to drive fast and so the average car driver is far more capable of getting more out of a car than a biker is a bike.

in races which include classes for motorcycles and car, desert trucks, rail cars and so on, it is always the motorcycles which finish first. Races like the Baja 1000 or the Dakar Rally. Bikes are fast and they go anyplace any other machine can go.

@wonderbubble39809 жыл бұрын
Even if the car was faster (say, equally skilled pilots on each vehicle), the other important thing to take in to account is what the bike can do. The Nomad will handle rally like a bat out of hell, but it's not going to complete an enduro race. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing on the Nomad, I think it's amazing. But it just wasn't fair to it to compare it to a dirtbike. Honestly though I wouldn't complain if I had either. Which I don't.
@Xeil9 жыл бұрын
+Steven Zettel Different applications for both of them. I don't think any machine on the planet can go as quickly in an enduro event like a dirtbike though.
@guytoob9 жыл бұрын
if you're going down that path, we can say you'd survive a crash in the Nomad and be back racing the next day... not so with the bike.
@Xeil9 жыл бұрын
Gayan W That's part of the risk we take when we ride, but I agree. You would be much safer in the Nomad.
@guytoob9 жыл бұрын
Gnarlington sorry i was replying to Steven. Yes as you said, different machines.
@wonderbubble39809 жыл бұрын
Gayan W Gnarlington Both very true. Also, the Nomad would be more stable in snow/ice conditions. Ooooh....now I really want to see someone put some metal-studded ice tires on the Nomad and rip around a lake. Different machines for different purposes, it'd be like comparing the outright speed of a Lotus to a Veyron, it wouldn't stack up. But neither can the Veyron take a corner like a Lotus.

In 2000 I didn't want to drag around a 4-wheeler hunting in west Texas. I drew up a design similar to this with a Jeep 4.0 straight 6 in the back. 2 seater. My only problem, I cannot bend pipe or weld. What a missed opportunity. I would love one of these as a retirement vehicle. It would be such a thrill on gravel ranch roads in the Davis mountains.

@Doggepp9 жыл бұрын
???? and? I wasnt meaning seeing how fast their top speed was comparing to cars.And I was meaning how fast they can clear the rally stages VS rally cars. But in order to do that, gearing needs to be changed so that they have higher gearing, since the lower gear will probably not be needed as much in the bikes, since the tracks arent as tight as dirt bike tracks. Anything else?

It has been badly graded, there are just no whites in the shots so it looks all flat and horrible. I'm sure the information is in the video files but the editor has an uncalibrated screen & hasn't paid any attention to the histogram. I bet all the shots have histogram a stacked up against the left side with no info in the right 1/3. Apart from all that the colours do look funny. I think they might have been using polarising filters to give more sky detail, but in part have muddied up the greens and browns. (I'm a photographer)

More expensive than an off-road buggy, but also street legal. If you live in the country, with dirt roads all around (and have a lot of $$$), this would be a fun toy. A Hennessey VelociRaptor is also fun. It depends how much utility you want from your vehicle.
