Crazy how in a span of 3-5 years, Ducati went from having one of the slowest Superbike's with regards to straight line speed (1098-1198, not a dig at that bike btw it's one of my personal favorite motorcycles), to the 1199/1299 being near the front of the pack, and then the V4 just mopping the floor with just about everything. And their streetfighter bikes are still the most beautiful and elegant by a long shot!

They're not the best handling/riding bikes, though. I'd still buy my Super Duke again, it's so comfortable and easy to ride. That said, I am trying to figure out why the Ducati needs to be so powerful really, for what's a naked, wide-barred streetbike. The ZH2 in my personal experience isn't as fast as this one seems to be, I wonder if the european version is really that different from the North American one. I did a few roll-ons with my friend this spring and my 1290R pulled a bike length and kept it to over 200kph. I dunno.

@@tomtraynor5384 Probably going to be pretty much a whole new engine. The current 1301cc engine has already been optimized a couple of times, with thinning materials and internal mass down to the minimum where it still generates the power but isn't unreliable with durability. Going another 100cc in displacement is probably going to require a redo of the entire engine. Assuming they stay with the Vtwin architecture. To my knowledge, there hasn't been any Twin-cylinder engine created over the years from any brand that attempts to be a sports-oriented twin, with around 1400cc or so displacement. Ducati is the only one in recent times who tried to absolutely maximize the horsepower a twin can produce before they just decided a V4 was the way forward for them. At some point your bore diameters get to be so large that it's difficult to fill the cylinder, get combustion expansion rates to also fill the cylinder, produce the power you want, but also spin the engine very fast (requiring a very short stroke due to too-high piston speeds and the limits of metal strength). If you go the direction of longer stroke, you have to limit RPM and then you deal with crazy torque forces trying to not blow the tire away at lower speeds and get hook.

I thought the H2 derived engine would hold it's own, despite being the heavier bike and having 11 less horses. I based my assumption on the turbo and the fact that the Kawasaki has 11 lbs/ft more torque; which is more important than horsepower when it comes to getting off the line.

@@traeucity6087 power to weight ratio is almost everything when it comes to straight line speed. Find a video where a vehicle with inferior power to weight wins in a drag race (barring no traction or horrible launch). everyone knows the street fighter V4 is the fastest naked in a straight line. I’m no Ducati fanboy (I like Aprilia more). But the facts are facts. And horsepower includes torque. Lower torque could just mean the bike is peaky and makes a ton of power up high (like the Ducati). Power is the measure of how much torque it makes over an interval, that’s why it’s the number that really matters. Power=torque x rpm.

@@traeucity6087that’s mostly cuz of gearing. A stock H2 will lose badly to a stock superleggera in straight line. There’s no videos out there of bone stock Vs bone stock. Old V8 and V10 f1 engines had very low torque because of their relatively low displacement and compression ratio. Yet they revved to the moon so they made 900+ HP, hence why they could hit 300 km/h in 10 seconds. Pls find any video of a heavier vehicle with less power beating a more powerful, lighter vehicle. The only other factors are aero and tires. Also look at the superleggera aero compared to a H2 lmao. One is designed for track riding, the other as a straight line beast.

Wanna know, was the Superduke faster off the line since it's a parallel?

Ducati has been the best motorcycle maker for a while.... Being part of Volkswagen(Audi) group improved quality and tech a LOT to the point that they are basically unbeatable now.

I hit the rev limiter on a sfv4 once. 💩came flying out. It was amazing and terrifying.

How about shift cam S1000-RR against Streetfighter v4s?

How do you think the triumph speed triple 1200 rs would've fared? I traded my speed triple 1200 for an MT-10, but that speed triple felt fast!

Tuned zh2 makes 255hp/150nm - also removing the factory exhaust lowers the weight by 20kg

I really wanted to see a speed triple 1200 in that race to see what it's capable of 🙃

I think it would get destroyed by those 2 beasts as it does even less WHP than Tuono and S1000R.

A friend of mine asked me why don't I buy a Z H2 being a Kawasaki fan. I told him I don't have a wish to harm myself. As you guys said, it's just stupid raw power.

Hey is it worth it getting a new z h2 SE vs a 2020 z h2 with 7k miles on it for 14k USD from a dealer
@plosg Жыл бұрын
looks like the fix is in.. show us the 1/4 mile times.. the last time ZH2 did 10.07sec vs SF 10.53secs
@BikeWorldTVshow Жыл бұрын
That Kawasaki actually did 10.70 not 10.07, we haven’t fixed it.

@@BikeWorldTVshow I was replying to PLo being salty about it being a fix, not yourself 😂. Could see that with either rider on board the ducati had the legs on the kawasaki 👍

Ah I really want Aprilia to update their bike. It's a such a great bike. If they could squeeze more power out of it...
@SteveC-Shaman Жыл бұрын
It really only needs it because these more powerful bikes exist. On its own, you pretty much never want for power except if you're racing one.

Really surprised with ZH2. Didn't think it would be that good.
