We’re used to moderate-travel 27.5 bikes making compromises in capability, but we’re not used to them having Switch Infinity and Yeti geometry. The SB140 is a downhiller’s play bike.

As a owner of multiple Yetis, if you want an affordable Yeti just buy the frameset and build it up from scratch (or with your existing parts). You'll get the Turq frame and end up saving several thousand dollars over what they charge for their builds. And honestly few bikes pedal like a Yeti. They are worth the extra money.

johnnnewmex hey there. As you have a few yetis wonder if you could help me. I have a gen 2 sb5 and love it. I’m looking to get a new bike. My question is 140 or 165?

Cheapest SB140 build (Fox, SLX) is $5200. Even Yeti bikes are a better deal complete than custom from frame-only. Can you explain again how a $3600 frame plus budget parts is less money, let alone a decent value? ($699 Marzocchi fork, $545 SRAM GX groupset, cheap bar, $400 wheels and budget $200 dropper is at least $5400)

I really like the fact they are keeping some 27.5 models available out there..im 5-7 so the 29in bikes are not my thing..it seems he 140 will be a good replacement for my 2016 sb6c

LF PC agreed. I don’t understand why there is so many 29ers. Much prefer the 650b size. Definitely a more fun ride.

I'm 6'1" and 180lbs and I love 27.5, because my favorite thing to do on a mtb is jump, toss it around and have fun. If I was racing I'd try a 29er, but bike parks with friends is what I love the most and 27.5 is just so flickable.

The Rekon is great in the dry dusty surfaces however once it starts raining, it's like trying to walk up-hill on ice, slippy AF. I live in the UK and the trick with the Rekon is turning it back to front, it offers much more grip!

Would you say this is a good bike for bike parks? Hitting drops and sending it off good sized doubles?
@ngcreese1
@ngcreese1 4 жыл бұрын
Pretty much made for the flowy, whippy, jumping sections of the park. Plus, mid level techy stuff. Mid-travel rear end, beefy front & rear triangles, and front fork. I've taken mine off 2ft drops to transition, all the time. Would feel comfortable going off 5ft to transition, probably not to flat from that high up (peer pressure can be a thing though... ). Perfect for aggressive trail riding w/ drop and jump features, buried deep in a trail system, that you have to pedal to.... and once your there you don't have to think twice about weather you're about to break your bike while goofing off... and have to walk back to the car. Lol!!

I hate when reviewers point out tire choice. Look, every area is different and brands need to pick something. Unless they pick a Walmart tire, just realize it may be something you need to change and move on.

Hey guys, if I could kindly ask.. Between the Santa Cruz 5010 and the YETI SB140, which would it be? Which is the superior overall proposition, and why?
@n8guy
@n8guy 3 жыл бұрын
The 5010 front wheel is WAY out there. It's pretty squirrelly on climbs, and you have to be very disciplined to keep weight over the front for downhill traction. I'd go SB140 for great all-around. I haven't ridden it, but every review I've seen says that another good option is the Ibis Mojo 4.

"It's a fun bike. It's a playful bike. It gives you more control and feedback. Can take any line. Can handle the chunk like 29er. Accelerates faster than a 29er. Doesnt get the bob." "BUT ITS NOT A RACE BIKE!" Come on. Richie rude said it best. Do you like the 150 or the 165 better? His response. It doesnt matter. I use each about 50% of the time equally.

The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.

Yeti is a great company that values their brand loyal customers. Unfortunately they are also probably never going to have a threaded BB or update to 157mm drop outs. But lots of people are fine with that so why should they.
@likelight6495
@likelight6495 4 жыл бұрын
No one needs super boost that puts your derailleur in danger of getting smashed and threaded will never work on Yetis because the BB shell isn't wide enough for switch infinity.
@hardmtnbiker
@hardmtnbiker 4 жыл бұрын
Johannes Zobel I see your point about the BB. As for SB157, I don’t think Yeti is going to ever go wider anyway.
@paulahner2101
@paulahner2101 4 жыл бұрын
I ride 150mm on a 29 dh bike and don't feel the need for 157 spacing. So why go super boost with an super stiff carbon rear end and 650B? Threaded bb's would be nice tho

Winterfell 7102 I ride a SS specific hub 29er wheel single speed Mtn bike with i35rims and 2.6” tires. It definitely feels stiffer than 29er 148 geared hub wheels on my friends SS. Yeti has one of the best riding frames available, especially the mid travel models that I would buy.
