Some of the best memories bike touring\packing come from the hardest times.

I remember a tv prog from the 90s about a couple who were marooned on a Raasay beach for a week. I’ve looked for it on KZbin to no avail.

Brutal trip Tom. The main thing is you're out there doing it whatever the weather, and when shit happens, you just have to keep pushing on forwards like you did. Looking forward to your next video

Yeah thanks Simon! Chin up got more sunny adventures next month 😛

This film brought a smile to my face. Why? Because similar happened to me last time in Skye. I had planned to do Raasay amongst other places and had made my base up above Portree. I stayed one night as the winds were horrific. Passed one guy with fully panniers bike pushing it up the hills and when I travelled back next morning he had pitched where he fell next to the A87 race track. I came back inland to salvage my trip which turned out the right thing as I had a fantastic adventure elsewhere. Sadly Skye has lost its charm now the bridge is there and the tourists swarm like flies and drive like ejits! Hope you had your drone insured, mines doesn’t go out in winds which we always seem to have up here. Hopefully someone might find it and if your operator ID is on it reunite it with you.

I've passed Raasay many times but never ventured onto it. I'll be cycling around the Inner and Outer Hebrides again this year so I'll hop over for a day or two. Bad luck with the drone, I'd be upset too! Strong winds have a massive detrimental effect on those islands for cycle camping, I felt your pain there! Great video again, thank you very much for that 🚲🏕️👍

@@Cycling366 oh yes, before I travel that far I scrutinize the weather forecast on the days running up to the trip. If in doubt I'll do a closer to home plan B trip. As you know, the term 'weather forecast' is an oxymoron in the UK! 🌧️🌩️⛅🌞 Cheers 🚲⛺🙂👍

Crazy when it's like that mate. Sure your drone will still be there if you have coordinates... Bit of of a bummer that. Planning my next but my right knee not good for last few months, I'd rather I'd lost my drone than a knee lol. Keep up the good work. Tony👍

Cheers Tony, yeah it’s probably buried in some heather bog somewhere on the coast. Might turn up! Not holding out hope though. Sorry to hear that, hopefully you’ll be back riding soon!

I feel your drone pain, i lost mine of the north coast when it went haywire, possibly interference from a nearby salmon farm comms system... looks like you also need a better weather forecast app ;-)

Bad luck, Raasay is brilliant, but can be a bit bleak mid winter, at least you avoided the midge...Flada has a causeway, accessible at low tide, the islanders used to drive sheep and cattle across. A great u tuber lives on raasay, bet he'd know who picked you up :youtube.com/@CalumRaasay?feature=shared

You need a water filter with a stream that low and surrounded by sheep, cattle and deer. I didn't for years, and then saw results of lab tests on a Scottish stream... 🤢
@Cycling36610 ай бұрын
Yeah I have a filter but not used it for a while. I boiled the water so was fine to drink! No issues since :)
