Just found your channel and finished this series and I have to say, as another cyclist coming from a ultralight hiking background, it's refreshing to see some of the tips and tricks you've mentioned. Keep up the good work!

I'm pleased you found the channel. I've never been too keen on winter camping so my next trip might be a while away 😁

Brought my first tent from Decathlon a few days back & planning my first camping. Your video will be a good heli

Thanks - my advice would be to stay local for the first trip just to check all the kit is working as you want it to.

Tuned in just to see the dump? Only jesting, great series of vids. Have noticed one thing though, many channels do comparisons of bivvy bags to tents and fail to mention what I think is the biggest drawback of bivvy bags and that is sorting kit out, getting changed, cooking etc etc if it's raining when you are setting up or after. All these things you can do in a tent, whereas disastrous in a bag. Thanks again....

😂😂😂. Yeah, the kit sorting in the rain is a pain. Midges too.

Tents great for campsites also when touring or making it up as you go along

Very pleased you included the 'poo'ing' guidelines... i live in the highlands and far too many tourists are absolutely vile when it comes to having a dump....

Great to see a straight talking vid about how to poo in the wild! But what about the ticks you said might be around? It happened to me on the west coast of Ireland many years ago. As in your vid I took a squat and carried out the plan to completion, but necessarily without the protection in the nether regions. Rather later I discovered several of the little blighters attached to me in hard to reach places. At the time they were just a nuisance, but nowadays we know they may carry Lyme disease, encephalitis and other nasties. Beware!

Do you have a video on your PCT trip? I'm looking for tips on geriatric thru hiking.

No Fred I don’t. I did a book but ai’ve witdrawn it now, but anyway I did the hike 20 years ago in my early 40s.

Beautiful spot for camping. I think I'd want the tent though, just to keep the critters out.

Every days a School day, gortex socks for wet trail shoes. Simple but effective solution, cheers 👍
@alwaysanotheradventure3 жыл бұрын
I’ve used this a lit while touring and you used to be able to get really thin ones which were light to carry, then pull on to go to the pub in wet shoes.

I was just wondering abouth your toothpaste, and what didn't work? I read an ultralight cycle guide a few years ago and the surgery recommended drying out your own preferred brand in pea sice lumps (not tried it myself) I was able to get a few ' free samples' of toothpaste from a vist to the dentist a couple of years ago and the tubes are only about 2" long. Thanks for the video, as with pretty much all of them you either support the way I do it or get me thinking of alternatives, I'm always happy to learn.

Hi Andy. I’m using the toothpaste tablets again on a trip now and they’re better than first thought. Arguably the lightest and most versatile is to decant a small quantity of peppermint Dr Bronner’s soap. We used this on the trail. Lathers with a minimum of water to keep hands clean and doesn’t taste too bad. I have some as backup.

I understand the mantra of Leave No Trace but, if properly buried what is the actual issue with leaving toilet paper in situ? The thought of carrying bags of soiled paper around always seems pretty unpleasant.
@alwaysanotheradventure3 жыл бұрын
If you get the biodegradable TP then perhaps it could be buried. The problem would be badly buried TP blowing around. In a three night ride I’d not fill a tiny dog poop bag, so i wouldn’t be carrying multiple bags of the stuff around. In some US National Parks it’s a legal requirement to pack out not only the paper but the 💩.

I carry a little lighter and burn the toilet paper. Excellent series of videos glad to have found them
