Interesting to see the sailboat at anchor with its masthead light set to Morse SOS instead of anchor light. Presumably, it was a brain fart on the part of the crew and not an actual emergency. Despite the weather, it looks like it was a fun trip.

They are fish cleaning gloves! When I did the dempster last summer i forgot a pair of heavy duty gloves for the rain and these were the only ones I could find in the small town of dawson city. They work great!

Gore-Tex socks are the only thing. I used them with SPD sandals on Haida Gwaii when it rained all day. I also used toe shoes there to hike in the mud! They are not good for cycling, though. "No such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes." Or bad shelter I guess!. Thanks. I have to get up there. Last night, there was hail and lightening in Nanaimo, though! Apriluary?

I’m still trying to figure out my shoe system. Heading to Iceland this summer and needed something better. This was a good shakeout trip.

Thanks for posting! I lived in the Comox Valley in the early 2000’s; got to explore Quadra Island trails a lot: returned for a 10 day bikepacking tour of Quadra and Cortes in 2019. Really appreciated the 2 cafe/coffee bars on Quadra and the store/cafe in Manson’s Landing ☕️. What Nemo tent are you using? Pro’s cons?

Forgotten trails are the best. Interesting to imagine the history and how they were used by colonizers at the time and what purpose they served as well as why they got abandoned.
