I did a fatbike tour in the wilderness with my packraft, hammock, hatchet, water filter, food, film gear. Bike was over 70 lbs plus a rather loaded backpack!

WHATT?! That's gnarly, I think a fat bike would be a great tool to disperse the heavy load and still give super fun.

Nice video; brings back great memories. BTW, many people think the entire west side of the Hudson is NJ. Everything from Piermont to the north is in New York State.

Thanks! Only living in NYC for less than a year once I cross the GW I'm constantly confused with what state I'm in!

Drone? Many years ago I lived in Suffern and biked in Harriman often. All the best.

Have you found any good "S24O" trips in the NYC area that one can do without reservations and don't end in a big climb? I'm thinking something in the 50-60 mile range with
@ridewithwoody58086 ай бұрын
@@hberg321 I’ve ridden both those routes and the camping is great but do fill up fast. Check out @helmet_kids on instagram, he posts pretty regularly no drop rides and if you can’t make it, you can probably still download the route.

@@ridewithwoody5808 Great, thanks, will do! If you've done both those routes, then maybe you've ridden with Joe from 718 Cyclery. I recently discovered his fantastic rides and hope to do more. Might see you on one if you are still doing them, too. I've also sent in a request on meetup to the NYC ADV group but they may have gone quiet or be closed to new members (or they're camping all summer), haven't heard back yet.

@@hberg321 718 is a wealth of knowledge and NYC ADV had a change in leadership but should be more accessible on instagram and Slack… happy riding!

Trying to do a similar route! Did you have any issues with the short palisades parkway section?

Love the cap, where did you get it? Thanks
@ridewithwoody58083 жыл бұрын
Cap is from King Kog Bike shop. No drone, used the Insta360 ONEX2 which can really look like a 3rd person filming or drone. Cheers

I like to try this route. Where did you camp? Campground name or GPS location?

Watching that hike-a-bike in Tom Jones shelter makes me cringe 😬. Awesome video 🤟

thanks for video. just curios: how many miles a day you do on average?
@ridewithwoody5808 Жыл бұрын
Anywhere between 30-50. Try to keep it lower so there is times at camp and less bonking.

@@ridewithwoody5808 good luck, bro! i wish to go camping more often but have to work instead. and after i saw (two times) black bears in Harriman, i doubt if i want to stay there for a night in tent...

Nope! Those 3rd person shots were on the Insta360 One X2
