Fantastic video! And... Snap, my son and I were going to do a similar bikepacking trip (Polblue to Careys & return) on the same weekend, but put it off due to the weather forecast and ended up going November 2-3. Yeah, we're wimps 😉, so kudos to you and the crew for heading out and having an excellent adventure. Good decision to stop at Polblue I reckon 👍.
@advanturest4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it was actually pretty nice riding in the rain, it would have been horrible setting up the tents though. Polblue hut was so good haha. Did you end up riding to Carey's Peak? How was the trail? I'd still like to go back and complete that ride.
@davesymons14 жыл бұрын
Yes we made it and got glimpses of the view through the cloud/fog. You can see our route here: strava.com/activities/4279155678 . Trails were good - nothing gnarlier than what's in your video and they'd dried out a bit by then. Some hike-a-bike, but not excessive imo. We had to contend with fairly high water levels in the crossings along Edward Swamp Trail on Day 1, and at Junction Pools on Day 2. Careys Peak does have a hut/shelter, although it's pretty small and 'rustic' - especially compared to the one at Polblue.
@advanturest4 жыл бұрын
@@davesymons1 Nice, I actually walked up the corker trail and visited that little hut a few months ago. I wanted to see what the landscape was like towards junction pools that's why I had planned to ride there. Thanks for sending your Strava route. I actually wasn't sure if you could ride the Aeroplane Hill trail so you have just confirmed that 👍 and your photos have confirmed i want to do it again but this time maybe do your loop. I've got some friends that missed out on the last ride so I'll have to plan another trip for next year. Thanks 👍

Oh man, I'd love to. It's on the bucket list for sure. I feel like I never have time to travel. Not a day goes by I don't think about just quitting my job and hitting the road. If that happens, you know where I'll be heading. The west coast is high on my priority list. I'm actually off on a 3 week trip to Canada this weekend and as much as I'm excited, I feel like I've just wasted 3 weeks of annual leave where I could have been riding bikepacking routes like the Munda Biddi. I did Strava it although I can't find the share button for some strange reason. If you scroll down through the comments there is a comment from Joseph Redding, In that are 2 strava links for day 1 and 2. I'll keep looking and try post it here. Also we didn't make it to the planned camp area because of the weather. If you continue down the Barrington Trail its beautiful! I can't wait to try again.

Thanks mate, I use a Canon EOSr and a GoPro 5. The Canon is definitely too big for this bike packing stuff but it's my camera and it comes everywhere with me. I'm happy to deal with it.
