Definitely, there's the challenge as a whole, but also so many small things along the way. We like to ride these Hardtails as we can ride some pretty knarly stuff for bikepacking but they're not too bad when we need to hike a bike. Might as well enjoy riding some of those features you've travelled all the way out there for!

Well, that was just stunning. I've watched a number of KZbinrs bikepack this route and it always draws me in. The first half as far as the hostel gives my bikepacking soul a deep recharge but then the technical descent and hike-a-bike sections have me gripping my imaginary handlebars. A very beautiful and awe-inspiring video from a truly adventurous couple. Thanks for posting.

Great film and love Glen Affric , your right about the decent from Camban Bothy to Morvich , I walked that on my Scottish National Trail route and it was bad enough without a bike. 🙂

Another excellent video by our second most favourite bike backing couple!! - In all seriousness what a fantastic trip! The views were sublime and I thoroughly agree with your comments about it being such a good time of the year, the snow capped mountains contrasting against the autumn colours - just beautiful.. I've pondered the route a few times myself but not sure I've the fitness for the road back - maybe I'll spring for a large taxi lol. The tricky downhill section at the end did look a right old challenge but again the views made that worth the while I think. hope you both manage to get out some more this winter, take care - ATB Tom

Lol 😂 thanks for the kind words, it was a cracking trip, we did a late 1pm start on the first day as we went Christmas shopping in Aviemore! But had a good full day till light faded on day two, and a morning to get to the end on day three. The road back was a solid 80k or so, but to be fair it was possibly the nicest road ride we have done in Scotland, the views were great and we got a refuel at Loch Cluanie Hotel. We sneaked out to Aberfeldy for a wee winter wonderland experience in the snow a fortnight ago, that's coming up soon. But yes we are hoping for a good winter Bikepacking season! Enjoy the festivities and maybe see you folks on the trail some day!

Brilliant video! Looked hard work at times.. plus filming of course but some of those sceneries are simply breathtaking indeed. Going the other way, Once your at the top, it's a little uppy downy, pretty rough till the next Bothy then your into better ground. You'll have to come back and ride it the chilled way with us sometime!

I love Glen Affric in the Autumn, I’ve been there a few times in May, June and July but the best weather I’ve had has always been October. Thanks once again.

Cheers Twisty Trails! Yes we hit the road and just put the hammer down, 90ish kilometres day Inc the last bit out of Kintail Valley from GlenLicht. We would probably do it again on a longer tour and head over to Skye, then ferry to Malaig and on.

Hi Derek, sorry we don't connect our private Strava to this channel, however in the video description I have included a link to the official route website which has all the route files available for download. This includes the recent updates! We take sometimes have to take various diversions so I can capture the angles for the long distance shots so my route would have you going over every dyke and ditch up the sides of the route 😂

Thank you for the kind words, it was a pleasure to create! The drone is a DJI mini 3 Pro, and believe it or not my other cameras are my Google Pixel 7 Pro, phone and GoPro11! Light and fast, I keep the phone on the bars and just constantly grab some big open shots as we are going along, and run the GoPro for all the moving stuff, and if I'm hanging it on a tree or setting it on a post. Lots of learning still to do but enjoying the process!

Hi Chris, yes we are big fans of the Paramo kit. Different to a membrane jacket, excellent breathability and very comfortable too. Been using my jacket for nearly ten years now. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Hi Drew, I can wholeheartedly recommend the majority of the route up to the Youth Hostel, and in the interest of never wanting to limit people's adventures I would say the section between the hostel and the bothy is more challenging, technically, but also has a different more rugged beauty. The last section from the Bothy out to the end is really a hike a bike, it's quite physical, despite being down hill mostly the loaded bikes are still a weight to handle and it would depend on your confidence on rough rocky paths, even on foot, there are a couple of narrow sections with a good drop to the side which we largely walked. The views are exceptional though. One of the main issues is that once you descend all the way down there's not a lot of great options to get back to the start other than a solid 85k road blast that we did. If you were to do an out and back, to the hostel or bothy there are routes on the other side of the lochs that you can change up the route back so that it is a little different. It is stunning in the late autumn if you have a nice weather window, also less busy as it's a popular summer walking route. My advice would probably be to do an out and back, see how you feel. It's such a beautiful place you will want to go back, so you can always push on through on a future trip. If you do decide to go past the bothy definitely add in a significant amount of time as it's very slow going the last few Kms.

Good film. The challenging descent in the latter stages down to the bothy is definitely a hiking path and unless you have a suitable full sus bike with sufficient bike handling skills is certainly a hike-a-bike section imho. Carrying very little would also be very desirable. If riding this in Spring, when do you think it would be passable so you weren't at risk of freezing to death or if later avoiding getting eaten alive by midges?

I'm a big fan of March, the last few years there's been a few weeks of favourable weather before it deteriorates into April showers. Certainly no midgies. You would just have to assess the weather closer to the time and see how it's looking. I've a couple of weeks off in march in anticipation.
