Absolutely tremendous video and drone - really captured the terrain and beauty of the trail... Seemed that you had done the toughest parts during the first couple of days. Quite a challenge on a tandem.. chapeau 👏👏👏👏🚴🚴 I'll add that to my to-do list but probably not as far as Glasgow.. Thank you for sharing.

The north section is definitely the best, it's as rewarding as it is challenging. Thanks for the kind words, glad you were entertained!

Really enjoyed this. Even though it’s got suspension the Beast must be a bit of a handful in the more techi bits. I’d have never have expected to find a Jackie Lunns Selkirk Bannock at Fort August ( I used to live in Selkirk and the surrounding area). Look forward to when you do the whole route.

Thanks for taking the time to let us know you enjoyed sharing in our double trouble antics! It's always lovely to hear that. It is a bit harder on the tandem, but so much fun at the same time. Think we might need to get the big bike out of the shed a bit more often in future!

We did, glad of the warmer temperatures though! Even soaked through we could keep moving. But sadly not quite enough sunshine to dry anything! So the old chamois on the bar roll technique had to be deployed!

Brakes and gearing. Always underdimensioned on a tandem. Unfortunately our DI2 is limited to 11-46 also. At home 36 in the mountains minimum possible is 30. Personally I do not have the patience to make videos, not to say carrying along a drone. If my stoker takes a photo every now and then that's still ok for her. She likes to look around but not taking photos. She hates stopping. Nice video where you manage to capture the feeling and show what's riding offroad on a tandem in real life.: slow and a lot of work, but a lot of fun. After the first day my body allways hurts.Taking in account you're camping you travel light.

I'm just so Jealous, I simply can't afford such a nice Tandem. Even a bike shop owner it's out my reach 🤣 Have a look at the Aeroe Bike racks which will fit you seat stays and it will help keep some of the weight over the axel and off the shock. Mother of Gawd 28x52/11? That is super low. My Ragley Marley runs 32x51/11 with a 28t i would be worried about my drive rings or Pawls! 🙃 @ 13:30
@TerraVenture28 күн бұрын
We upgraded the rear hub to a Chris king with the clutch plate drive which takes the load no problem. Pawls simply wouldn't (and haven't) coped. We got a good deal, it's a lot cheaper than most American full suss tandems. couldn't afford the shipping so actually went as foot passenger on ferry to Europe and cycled it home.

Great fun. Really enjoyed your drone shots. I’m guessing you couldn’t have been too far from Blackburn Bothy when you camped first night. Did you consider staying there?
@TerraVenture3 ай бұрын
Hi Paul, thanks for the kind words. We generally don't stay in Bothies, sometimes close to them if we've struggled to get a pitch or to cook if weather is bad. We've bothied a little before and find there's more disturbances and we're really out there for the peace and solitude. In winter it is often warmer in the tent as well! We just really enjoy our tent space, have a system and are pretty quick and efficient.

I’ve never seen tandemists pedaling and freewheeling separately like that before. They usually pedal in ‘tandem’ as they say. Is that a different system to normal tandems?
@TerraVenture Жыл бұрын
It is! Well spotted 😁. It is a freedom rotation crankset which is pretty rare. It allows for independent pedalling which is fantastic off road. It allows me to keep my knees out of the road and Lindsay can continue to pedal us around tight corners and switchbacks!

Wow FANTASTIC video guys! I really enjoyed this! What an adventurous trip on the tandem! We've done some tandem bikepacking here in Florida as well on ours, but nothing quite as adventurous as this yet. If you have a chance, I'd love to have you check out a video we created about one of the bikepacking trips we did on ours: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3mvhHd6n9Oqhqs Cheers, and looking forward to more great content!
