Haha best part was a local came to check in the morning because she could see my bike tucked underneath the Bin. She got a bit of a shock to find me having breaky in there. I said I had a good stay and would be checking out by 10am 😂

Really enjoying this series. Videos are really well put together. I'm watching with intent as I've just signed up for this year. I notice you rode a bike with no suspension - how well did that work for you?

Thanks for the comment John, I am so excited for you. I'll keep an eye out on MAProgress for you. I was hoping to get these videos out before this years' ride and hopefully motivate some riders deep in training. I have to admit I really didn't have any issues not having suspension but I think this was because I chose to take longer and ride less each day so I had plenty of rest off the bike. Also the walking/hike-a-bike time helped. I also had the drop bars and TT-bars so I had options to re-position if my hands were getting sore. I have never ridden a suspension bike long distance so I might not know what I am missing out on too. :) Happy training

Agreed it would be an incredible walk. The route crossed paths a few times with the Australian Alps walking track. I met someone who was doing it on horseback. I'm off to hike in NZL South Island in a couple months for the first time. Can't wait!

loving the series! the Hunt is definitely on my bucket list. How did you rate the bivvy/tarp set up? Would you choose that set up if you were to do it again?

Thanks :) I really love the bivy/tarp setup and would do it again. On shorter trips I'd just use a tarp but I knew I'd be in snake territory and didn't fancy one crawling into my sleeping bag with me. Part of my strategy though was to make sure I would at least have some form of shelter overhead every second day so if I did get caught in the weather, I could have a chance to dry out. I think if I was in a tent too it would hard to get me out of it in the mornings 😂
