By the way, creating these videos is a LOT of work. The hope is they’re entertaining, sometimes inspiring, informative. In the interest of clarity, I actually make less than £100 per month from KZbin and viewers don’t have to pay anything to access my content. Sometimes I accept ads so I can continue making these videos and pay my bills. I’m very grateful for the support from brands like Emma Sleep

Just ordered an Emma Sleep mattress. I hadn't considered them before watching this video, and got the extra discount too. Thank you Juliet for the cycling tips and the discount on my new mattress. Keep doing what you do, I'm sure I'm not the only one who appreciates it 😊

Yes, ear plugs! I wish I brought some with me when I went solo bikepacking last summer. My campsite was close enough to a road with cars and trucks roaring by all night.

Remember it`s not a race. learning to conserve energy so as to keep going all day was a big one for me. Definitely a different mindset with bikepacking. Slow down, enjoy the scenery, stop as often as you want and dont look at the clock or the miles.

We just came back from our first one. Ireland the peninsulas SW. We learned that you can even take less stuff than when hiking on a gravel bike. Painful packing. Renting stuff like a light tent and sleeping bag can also save a lot of money if you are not sure yet. And even when you are tbh. Btw, if you eat the dehydrated food like that. It will be insane cramps and toilet life for a while. Tip for the people with sensitive bowels. Stir endlessly and get every nook and cranny and let it hydrate a bit longer. The upset bowels after that food tends to come from some dehydrated stuff being ingested.

You can use cellophane underneath your bags where they touch the frame. The static electricity holds the cellophane in place instead of sticky glue on the frame, and you can shape the cellophane any way you like to look good. I notice your sweater and the wind. Dressing warm/appropriately makes cycling fun year-round. A lighter/matches, good idea. Thank you.

Don't forget to fuel regularly! Being on a bike 4-8 hours/day requires a lot of calories, and bonking on a bikepacking trip is no fun (speaking from experience...).

Not eating enough is never fun. But especially bad while cycling.

@calmo Omlac the amount of food needed does vary depending on intensity too. I couldn’t ride for that long on just a small meal

Oh the Emma mattress: we bought one after sleeping on one in Ibiza this year. Fantastic deep sleeps now. Nice partnership. Looking forward to hearing about the ebike- we’ve just bought two Cube Kathmadus and they are incredible. Got me cycling again after years. We’re over the other side of the moor to you, near Yelverton. Some fantastic cycling round here 🤩 love your channel BTW 😊

try self-amalgamating tape.... Its non adhesive but when you pull it out it stretches and when its half its width wrap it. The Stretching activates a chemical reaction and the tape err alagamates into one peice of rubber....you can cut it back if with a sharp knife or snips etc...
@pauldenney79082 жыл бұрын
Use wiring loom spiral wrap instead of tape, easy to put on and take off, lasts longer doesn't rub through.

Great video Juliet! Thanks! In addition to the great tips I would add take a water filter for backwoods Canada! Has saved me in remote areas kind of like your dehydrated food tip but with water source.
@davidkernaghan29182 жыл бұрын
Silicone Tape is the best. None adhesive to the frame, only adheres to itself and doesn't leave any residue. It is also a little thick and keeps things from moving about.

Bikepacking less is more! Take one set of clothes that you keep sacred dry for the evening. A good evening / nights rest is essential. Fatigue will build up over multi day trips so it important to give yourself some comfort. Multi layers multi function!

Probably not the best person to ask, due to past navigational 'diversions' but, is there a cycle satnav that has audio navigation? Never used 1 b4. Thanks.

It good you know the different not many people do .. cycle touring is panniers and racks bikepacking is just bags ..you could say bikepacking is the evolution of traditional cycle touring.. The funny thing when i started Bikepacking on a full carbon Fatbike 9 years ago , traditional pannier guys sáid it just a fad and will never catch on .. Now they still ride there pannier steel frame bikes and now dont call them selfs cycle tourist but bikepacking lol

Currently editing a video with the question 'what is bike-packing?' - highlighting the fact that bike-packing doesn't just mean riding off-road. But at the end of the journey typically those road tyres will ride over grass or be pushed up a hill or a spot of hike-a-bike to do another activity 'camping'. Bike-packing literally means 'packing stuff on your bike' - clues in the name lol. I have a question over 'bikepacking' myself - when I use it in a video title I can't decide whether its one word or two, or even hyphenated!
@TangoFourZero2 жыл бұрын
