I’m from South Australia and we bring our horses and go pack saddling. That river crossing you where trying to attempt we did many years ago after 100 ml of rain ! It was sketchy and scary on horseback 😂 We usually go in November and we’ve been in full snow one day and 30 degrees the next ! Am seriously thinking of getting into bike packing hence checking out your videos! Thanks so much for sharing ,may see you out on the trails either on horseback or biking one day!🤠

Thanks Lisa, That's a decent trek over from SA. I can understand why you would travel that far, It's a beautiful area and would be really nice on a horse. Not sure about crossing a fast flowing river though. 😂 Thanks for watching along. I hope you don't regret switching to bike when you're pedalling up some big hills 😉 In all seriousness I love it and the hard slogs make the destinations far more enjoyable. See you on the trails 👍

@@advanturest takes us 2 days with the horses to get there but that’s all part of the adventure! Our last trip my friend and I only took one horse each to carry the packs and we hiked ! I must remember that you need to be fit to hike in mountain country 😬😂 The last day we left Cooinbil hut after having no sleep because of people running generators all night to run lights 🙄 and we planned on camping at long plain hut but there was no water so we ended up hiking 26km back to Bullocks where there was cold champagne and our vehicles! it’s amazing what you can do to get to cold alcohol 🥂😂 So I’m not afraid to push my bike up big mountains 🥵😂 And it will be a way to stay at the huts in the wilderness areas where we are not supposed to take the horses. You should come across to SA and bike pack the Flinders Rangers! It’s absolutely stunning and if you love your photography you will be amazed at the landscape!! Happy Adventurous trails!! 🤠

Thanks guys, another great vid. Really enjoy vicariously sharing your adventures and getting ideas for future trips of my own. Keep em coming please! ;-D. I've got a few rides with the e-bike and trailer under my belt now and better understand the pros and cons of bike packing with a trailer; your previous advice was spot on. Cheers and thanks, Pete 😉
@advanturest
@advanturest 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Pete! I will do my best to get out as often as I can 😂 So the question I have for you, do you like the trailer? I noticed the more experience people get with bikepacking the less gear they take. It’s probably a mixture of knowing what you will need and slowing collecting smaller lighter equipment. I know my new tent means I’m a step closer to loosing this huge backpack! I needed a trailer with a little boat on this trip 😂
@peterfricker1817
@peterfricker1817 2 жыл бұрын
@@advanturest Hi Guys. Thank you, we love your adventures and vids, and look forward to more soon. I really like the trailer (mostly). Excellent not having a heavy backpack, the extra room is handy, and I like carrying those li'l extra treats like beer, rum and chocolate😉. Turning circle is an issue, as is the change to the dynamics and handling of my bike. Also, getting through or over those pesky fences and locked gates. Losing traction on the big hills, even with an e-bike conversion means a heavy push up hills, even with 'walk' mode. Still getting used to it. I'm going to invest in more, lighter gear eg tent, and carry an extra battery for the extra range and 'assist.' Overall, the trailer gets the nod of approval and most of the time just obediently tracks behind me carting all my gear; would I buy it again? Defs yes 🥰. Cheers Pete

Always enjoy watching these adventures, especially in and around Kosciuszko country. The quality of videography in this particular shoot is awesome. Definitely getting better and better each time. You really need to post more of those still photos on instagram too, they’re awesome!

Cheers mate, I appreciate the kind words. I feel like every trip I do I make a few mistakes with the camera and I try not to make the same mistakes on the next one. This can be hard when most shots are very rushed but it’s a work in progress. I’d love to work more on the story too but often I don’t know what the story is so I just film heaps of random stuff and hope it works 😂 I’m enjoying the process. As for instagram, I have so many photos and I can never decide what to post so I don’t. I really should get over this and just share some images 😂 Thanks for watching. Time to start planning another trip!

@@advanturest Feb/march could work for me.. its an area I'd love to explore! The Hunt was amazing.. no doubt it was tough, but you can ride it your own way and the grand finish & retreat at the halfway point were both great for building a sense of community during the ride. Also, the grit & determination of some people was inspiring, not to mention experiencing the beauty of the high country day after day. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

@advanturest 2 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate! I love the feedback. I’m a big fan of colour grading. I watch a lot of photography / videography based content and I love the images some people produce. I shoot everything in Log (very flat image) and try to make things look a certain way. Unfortunately I can never succeed. I’m not exactly sure what it is but I do need to colour grade in a low resolution preview otherwise my computer wants to meltdown. This and my lack of knowledge on it plays a big part. I do like experimenting though. I did about 5 different exports for this video and this is the one I chose. Each export takes about 2 hours and that’s after spending time adjusting the look. Pretty much one new export each night after work. You can see why I just gave up and uploaded it 😂

Hi Tim, art is very personal stuff. Here is my 2 cents opinion: In a pure travel/landscape/landscape+bueaty video, one can choose a more moody, cinematic, dark, retro...way to play with, but yours is more of an activity doco, especially with 4 blokes inside, I think a normal/sun-shine way of handling could be more appropriate. Maybe you can try 2 versions in your next trip, one for story-telling, and one for more fine photography. BTW, 4K video is a beast, on top of new bikes, maybe you also need a new high-power PC. Cheers.
@advanturest
@advanturest 2 жыл бұрын
@@terryleung9422 You’re right with art being subjective. Never going to please everyone. My main goal is to match the GoPro footage as best I can with my Mirrorless camera footage and then do some type of grade over the top. I really find it tricky because with the same final grade some clips really get effected more than others. That’s one area where have a slow computer can make it very time consuming to try fix up every clip by clip. One thing I find interesting is monitors, I can make things look nice on my monitor and then it looks like trash on my phone or TV. What a punish 😂 At the end of the day this is just a hobby and it’s all fun and practice. I’ll leave a video by a couple that I love there colour grading down below. This is my goal but they live in Canada and just the landscape plays a big part. Anyway, My main camera is the Canon R6. This camera is known to have highly compressed codecs which hurt most computers. High spec M1 macs apparently handle the footage ok but that will have wait. My computer I built 3years ago. I got all the parts during the Black Friday sales and believe me it’s decent! The only thing lacking is RAM which I have on my Christmas list. It’s currently only 32gb and hoping to bump it up to 64gb at Christmas. My motherboard can handle 128gb but that means buying all new RAM which is about $1000, As mentioned it’s just a hobby so I can’t justify that kind of money. I’m hoping that doubling the RAM will help. 🤞 I’m now all excited about my next video as I’m so keen to practice my colour grading 😁 kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGrXq4awmNuskM0
