149 g per pair w/cleats? Not just enduro ready, but the lightest! /s

Nice! I took your advice on the X-Alp Summit shoes a couple years ago and absolutely love them. The walkability of these GE5s looks even better. However, I still take a pair of really cheap and light Wally World slip ons, just in case I get the riding shoes wet. Thanks for all the hands-on testing! This is one of the few channels where I know the advice isn't fly-by-night because clicks are more important than sharing real long-term experience. Even though you guys are "sponsored", you still call a spade a spade... which is appreciated.

On a long tour like the CT or AZT, I've found all shoes break down more than expected and are ready for retirement by the end. Would be cool to see a long term review or maybe rider reviews on their shoes for such rides like you do for the bikes.

Gave up laces years ago when Sidi launched the ratchet strap. Laces would freeze, take on water and flop around.

I have the GE9s and like them but think they could have slimmed them down (on the outside) a bit and made them have more vents. They are very comfortable but hope Shimano re-introduces something more all-mountain like the ME7.

How far back can you position the cleat? Is it enought were you dont really want to be that far vack or is it too little for a purely dh oriented rider?

1149g, thanks for catching that.

@@BIKEPACKINGcom that doesn't sound right either. shimano homepage states 399g in size 42 and I guess that's per pair. A pair of shoes over a kilogram would definitely slow you down. :-) I know you guys from the other side of the ocean still learn metric measures.....but thanks for the effort! 😛

Interesting you mention double knot, Ive never had to double tie a shimano shoe, If you have to double knot laces, the laces are not good and should be swapped for grippy ones.

It’s because of my long narrow feet.
