Great to see 3 young guys out on bikes , to be serious though this is the norm and its a real shame more young kids arent getting into bikes , go to any bike meet and 90 percent of bikers are over 40 , a friend who has a bike shop said he won't be in business in 10 years because young people just arent taking up biking , enjoy it while it lasts .

Simon Fly agree, most dealers I think are very reliant on repeat business. The tortuous (and costly) bike test together with high insurance premiums and bike thefts - not to mention our erratic weather don’t help encourage new bikers’

This Artificial Intelligence stuff really isn’t working is it? That server is clearly an Android fitted with an obsolete customer response chip. She stalled for a good 30 seconds when faced with Geoff’s outrageous item replacement request. If you watch carefully, you can see the cafe manager creep up and turn her off and on again.........

A good idea to combine a bit on bikes with that film trivia. The Stokenchurch tower has a fascinating history as you hint and perhaps the not so trivia. Originally designed to survive and bypass expected atomic weapon attack in the cities in the Cold War , its reinforced concrete construction was part of a planned 14 chain military and later civil communication 'Backbone' for the country. Interestingly, there was such a shortage of money in the late 50s and early 60s that government funds prevented the accommodation blocks here being similarly protected!

Good idea. If your going to score the food, service, etc, I think you should include their official food hygiene rating. I didn't eat at your proposed next venue, The H Cafe, (when I visited the bike store next to it) as it had an official food hygiene rating of 1 out of 5.

Nice idea TMF. The group I ride with regularly sometimes goes to Chris's Cafe and we vary the destination amongst a number of other places too including H's Cafe that you mentioned. Generally speaking the food at Chris's aint too bad in my view in comparison with some other caffs we visit. One quite nice joint very near you is the Deep Mill Diner on the A413 about 1.5 mile south of Great Miss. Again it's not wholly a biker caff but some do go there. Food is quite good I think, better than Chris's, if a little dearer and it has proper waiter service and decent toilets. Large car park. I highly recommend also the Super Sausage on the A5 a couple of miles south of Towcester. In my view one of the best biker caffs of all around here. Outstanding food, aircon, they play decent rock music, clean, nice staff. Very busy on warm weekends but during the week it's fine. Also large car park but the toilets are outside. Another decent place is Jack Hill's Cafe, just north of Towcester on the A5. I have a vague recollection that you did a walkround of one of your test bikes, forget which, in their car park.

A good watch TMF. Another recommendation for you all is The Waterfront Cafe at Benson. A bit more upmarket than the H Cafe (but no more expensive) which is only 5 mins down the road.
