We do over plan trips (or anything really) way too much now. Could be something about not having enough time and trying to fit as much into that limited time span. Or allowing yourself to get drawn into the notion that you couldn`t possibly do it without specific gear, sold by specific advertisers. The way people travelled in the past was so spiritic. Everyday was an adventure because they had know idea what was around the corner. Money was limited, bikes were what ever you had just like the gear you took. They ventured into the unknown, because generally, no one had done what they were mad enough to do, eg. Helge Pedderson riding the Darien Gap! Everything has been done know. I admire these early motorcycling adventurers. Pioneers of true adventure motorcycling.
