It's false confidence. People who wear ppe drive faster than they're capable of because they feel safe. There’s different types of airbag vests, some like the one in this video, and the accelerometer kind that requires sending back to the manufacturer to refill, and as F9 said in his video, they could always say “sorry, this vest isn’t safe to reset, you’ll have to buy a new one”

alpinestars race vest has a 2 deployment limit before both co2 cartridges need to be serviced and replaced. So if you bought a cheaper version I honestly would toss it because I wouldn't know if the bladder of the vest can actually hold multiple deployments. The airbag vests are legit. I just took my motorcycle safety course and our instructor was talking about how it literally saved his life going at highway speeds and being thrown off his bike that was totaled. He had minor injuries and was able to go home the same day, the doctors were shocked and had no idea what the vest was until he showed them. Unsure what type of velvets he used though, I don’t think it was the one with the cable like this one, but maybe it was idk The point is that they’re legit.
@Shonicheck Жыл бұрын
There are electronic ones(aka you don't have to be tethered to the bike, but you have to charge your "air-jacket", so yeah...), but the problem with them is the fact that a lot of those on the market are crappy(they usually have a small inflate volume and don't inflate enough to block your helmet to prevent the neck injuries) also some have "subscriptions"(aka you have to pay a monthly fee for it to function) imagine how cool it would be to die because your subscription period expired or it just thought it expired! That's the cyberpunk we deserve

I’ve ridden with this Amazon vest for a year now and I really like it. Was worried a bit about it blocking air flow on a June trip through Mojave Desert, but it flows plenty. At first I also worried about setting it off accidentally, but the cord starts stretching a bit if you forget and it reminds you. Plus, I’m usually giving the bike a quick scan before I walk away, making sure I didn’t leave keys in the ignition, tucking away gloves and stuff, and you pretty quickly see the cable. Have compared side by side with much more expensive model and they look and feel similar in quality. Have NOT used it in a crash. Nice review btw.

@joemann79712 жыл бұрын
Fortnine has his friend hit him with a golf club. The back is very well protected but the biggest protection is actually on your neck. If your neck snaps, you're dead. Combined with a full face, the airbag can protect your neck. This cheap-o airbag still seems to provide neck protection, even if back protection is subpar compared to the helite. That being said, I also the helite turtle and what convinced me was fortnine. Glad your MSF instructor demonstrated. He must be passionate to save lives. Helite should send him free refills to deploy since $20 each time he deploys it isn't cheap if you combine it by the number of classes they do per year.

Go to any metal worker shop and ask them to replace the 4.5mm cutting knife with a 5.9mm one (shouldn't take more than 5 minutes, I usually pay €5-10), also make sure you're using 45g CO2 cartridges, not the 35g ones. It'll fill up in about 0.1 second (which is what big US brands promise currently) instead of the 0.2-0.3 it takes stock. It's a trick known for over 10 years (airbag vests are used for various sports since the 90s and athletes modified them in many ways).

And if I try to stand up from the bike, without disconnected from the trigger, it needs such a force, that you know for sure, that you are still connected, without activating the Vest! And if you do it daily, it's a regular movement and you never forget to connect or disconnect it.
