Bikes and Beards, I’m glad you and Matt got together on this project. He reminds me of his Dad in so many ways it’s unbelievable. Both of them are as honest as the day is long, both of them genuine and genuinely good people to anyone they meet. Somehow they both seem like they’ve never met a strange, up at the old shop here in Southern Illinois Dale always gave folks a fair shake and would go out of his way to help you out if he saw that you were in a bind. Spent quite a few afternoons looking for oddball parts or just original parts that weren’t reproduced yet by quality companies. Their shop crew and sales department were phenomenal as well. Glad to see the Maggie Valley location worked out so well for the Walkslers. Matt is definitely keeping history relatable with his channel. It’s good to see that you guys caught on to the historical importance of some of these old bikes for your channel as well as your business. I understand that you must make a profit to stay above water but every once in a while getting neck deep in a project like this might broaden your understanding of where a lot of our hobby began. Sometimes the old bikes even as simple as they seem compared to the technology we’re used to will make us bang our heads against the wall to troubleshoot. The stroker shovelhead im working on now has been creating more grey hair in just the last week but they all do eventually. Anyway, hold your heads a little higher moving forward, you and your team have really accomplished something to be proud of to preserve another piece of history and to help educate your subscribers as well as just bringing us along for the ride. 👍

I’m a Canadian and back in the day I was I’m Maggie Valley visiting a friend, that friend introduced me to Dale. As a high end builder of homes Dale was interested in my thoughts about his upcoming construction project. I actually forget what his plans were but my memory was eclipsed by what was in the building we were walking past to get to the site. The Museum! Dale gave me his time and boy o boy did he give me his time, hours upon hours. My wife went back to the motel and every moment with Dale was an honor, I was riding a Buell at the time and Dale gave me some history lessons, in fact it was a historical overload, as you all know Dale was a legend and for me that long day was etched into my memory for eternity. I’m currently sailing around the world and watching this video on the open ocean, Starlink allows me to have internet worldwide. ❤️

What a great video. When I was 14, back in 1955, I bought a 1942 civilian flat head "45". I had a lot of fun on that one as it was my first Harley. I started riding on Whizzer motor bikes when I was 8. I am 82 now, and ride a 99 Softail Custom. But I will always remember the fun I had on that old "45". The front brake cable was broken, and the spark advance cable was broken. So I had to remember to retard the spark by hand before I started it. Stopping on a hill was also exciting. I had to shift to low, hold the brake on with my right foot and balance the bike with my left. When the light changed, I had to raise my left foot to operate the clutch while taking my foot off the brake to put my right foot down. I did manage to do it all without killing the engine. But I was 14. When you are 14 you think you can do anything. LOL. Anyway, loved your video. It brought back lots of good memories. Wish I had kept mine.

My old neighbor bought a non running 1936 RLDR 45 in the late '50's and brought it home, hanging out of the trunk of his car with plans to fix it up. He said it had been used as a flat track racer. This story is from before I was born. He put it in the back of an old pickup and put it in his dad's barn. I saw it several times as a kid playing. Fast forward to the early 2000's. The old boy had passed away and had never fixed it up. His son accepted an offer from a HD dealer, who traded him a brand new Sportster for the old bike. I never did hear of what happened to the bike, but I sure wish he'd sold it to me but he wouldn't sell it.

When I look at this machine through my European eyes, the angles and contours appear so different, almost as if it is shortened, but as soon as Craig rode it away onto that track, I could identify the true lineage and purpose of shape, the way he sits so comfortably and it slides across the gravel tracks, in this age of technology, I love it that that the real men are still around showing us and teaching us to mould shape and form American Steel and Iron, Stunning that is all I can say, Big Greetings from little England

I had a 45 trike and rode the solo a little, I bought a solo years ago. That solo was missing on one cylinder, come to find out the rear cylinder had a hole in the piston and it would still run somewhat. That was the most nostalgia I ever felt in my life even with all the Harley I have owned and loved!
