Reminds me of my 82 Xj750 bobber/Cafe build. Hearing it scream to 9,000rpm is truly insane. Most think it's a modded HD, until it flies past them screaming like a banshee at that RPM. Hardtail converted and everything. Shaft drive instant power. True neck snapper.

Had an XS650, it was lovely to ride and good for grin making ! Its a great looking engine and solid as. Unfortunately this one was a wanker. You know how some machines just seem to have a malevolent spirit and never work properly for long before something else breaks. Stripped the engine, rewired the whole bike and spent ages on it but it was never a reliable bike. My last view of it was laid down on a trailer off to annoy a new owner, seemed fitting !

Looks great just needs a Springer front end..the frame would look sick if you took the whole thing down to bare metal then cleared it... just my 2 cents, looks great tho

Iron Jim is this bike rephased? Or big bore? Don’t know if I missed it
@domonkosbatai86215 жыл бұрын
Iron Jim What do you use to clear bare metal? I heard that it will rust under the clear if I put it on directly to the bare metal. Any suggestions what to use bc I would like the bare metal look without rust on my own bike.
@dannyb20vtec285 жыл бұрын
Domonkos Bátai a powder coated clear is a lot tougher than a paint clear.. that helps. But it eventually will start to rust in the future..

One question, did you have to run baffles or lollipops with that exhaust? I'm thinking of getting em for my 75 xs but I'm not sure if I'll need baffles or not. I don't care about performance but I don't want any issues with harmonic inversion or whatever it is

I've been meaning to ask. How do people get a bike like this through the MOT in England? The situation in the Czech Republic is a really sad one even with proper customs. Do they just not care for these old bikes at the MOT?
@d.o.g85976 жыл бұрын
Vít Jakeš you find a deaf MOT tester ;) Or you put on normal pipes ans then take them off Or you make friends with the MOT tester
@eddiecaplan19086 жыл бұрын
Back in the late 1980s, in england, when it was mot time, you would put the standard exhausts on the bike, then when you had the certificate, off they came, then you fitted your short open drag pipes, open carbs, or k&n filters, rejetted carbs etc, so you were ^street legal😀^, for the next twelve months!!!

We all do what we can. Not everyone has the tools, the training or the space to build engines and weld frames. What Jimbo has done is made the bike his own, but whatever means he could, sometimes on his own, and sometimes with help.
