I have a 1976 XS650C in French Blue. Bought new at 17 yrs. Old. Still my favorite bike 80,000 plus miles of smiles. These old bikes are made to be ridden and not put up. They have soul…

I've been riding an XS650 for over 40 years. I did a 300 mile loop on one last weekend, and 150 miles yesterday. Been out and about on it today as well. I own five of them, one since new. Yeah, it's a disease. Greetings from Mississippi.

I totally agree with you on that 1975 tank. I had an original 75 650 with that tank. Out of all the bikes I had, that is the one I most wish I had kept(also a 77 RM250).

Ironically, the only bike I wished I had back was the bike I mentioned in this episode. Thanks for watching.

The weather here in Michigan is wonderful, but I'm too sick to ride and stuck on the couch. (I never get sick, ugh!) - But thanks to you, I got to ride along on a Yamaha XS650 and see some cool ass cars! Although I'm a Honda guy, that Yamaha XS650 is a classic beauty!

In 1991 I had a '79 XS650 - bought with flames on both sides of petrol tank and a Mexican under a sombrero on top of the tank. Sold it to finance my pending overseas trip. I really missed the character of this bike. Last year I bought a Kawasaki w800 because it reminded me of this bike. (the wife of the guy I sold it to made him paint over the murals 😂😂 )

One of the best tank designs ever in my opinion, along with the European spec RD250/350B. I noticed the headlight is a bit out of alignment, that will give an interesting pattern on the road.

You touched on a really good point, the handing of stories, legends, information etc from our elders to the younger members of society. I can’t help but worry there are plenty of the former, but too few of the latter to carry this very important tradition on. Will the iPhone generation step up and take over, or will the tradition die? Will the iPhone enhance the tradition, or not? Does anyone care these days? Love the XS.

Just my opinion. Motor wise best twin cilinder motors ever build. Specialy ftom 78 /82 almost bullit proof. Looks wise, 1969 up to 74 best looking bikes. After that it went slowly downhill looks wise. I own a 82 ... not original but i would not want a original one from that year. Its the most ugly version of the xs line. This year i am gonna get mine back from rebuild into a european style chopper 70,s chopper Hardtails were almost unknown then. So slightly adapted drame. Does have a badass springer fork tho. . What ever you make of a bike. Original or a wierd ass freak . As long as ye stay on the road with a smile riding it who gives a rats ass what it looks like.

I agree. It’s your bike. Who cares what anyone other than you thinks about it. Thanks for watching.

Allow of bikes from early eighties including the XS650’s went to that,”chopper” look. Skinny front tire, ape hanger pullback handlebars, fat rear tire, etc. Handling wise that style was horrible in the twisties. A marketing ploy that had no practical use. Just looked cool to the crowd they were marketing to. The upright older versions were better in my opinion. The big difference in handling between the older xs650’s and the British bikes were the British bikes had more rake in the front end hence better handling in the turns. If you ridden a Triumph and then a XS650 you’ll feel the difference. Plus the XS650 was always buzzy. Mine had rubber mounting to try and eliminate that.
