Great video! I just bought a new dropper and having never installed one and unable to find much on the model I bought, I'm happy to have found this video. Thanks! Update: I installed my KS LEV SI dropper using your instructions. The only problem I had was with the measuring for the barrel. KS included a piece to measure the distance between the barrel and the housing, but there were no instructions, and I had it upside down which caused looseness in the cable. Once I figured out my error I was good to go. Thanks again!

Thanks! Installing a new housing was the big issue for me, without specific tools. I hasld to improvise : I turned the bike upside down, fed the housing and the cable from the front hole to the bottom opening of the frame, there I attached the little metal cylinder that attaches to the seat post and I tied a shoelace to it. From there it was very easy to guide the unattached end of the sholace through the small hole and down the seat tube. Then just pull it and the housing follows the corect path. Then I followed this video. Hope this helps

watching this to prepare for when my dropper gets delivered next week. You know the install would be a ton easier if these companies just had a farrel (don't know if that's spelled right) on the lever end. Then you could just install the cable with housing, install the dropper post and push it down, then pull the cable/housing to whatever length you want it, cut the housing and install the cable into the lever.

Nice video. Thanks for posting. Unfortunately the Command Post is not very good. I’m taking mine off my 2017 Specialized Enduro. It rattles (from day 1), loses pressure, and does not operate smoothly despite being rebuilt by the Specialized dealer. I am replacing it with the same X-Fusion unit that came standard on my Specialized Epic, which works way better. It is nicely dampened so it rises at the perfect rate and is very well priced. Specialized obviously thought the Command Post wasn’t great when they switched to the X-Fusion.

Thanks for the video. The finicky 17mm cable trim reveals what a bad design this dropper is. The reverse design where the cable exits through the lever is so much easier since you can get it working well before cutting the cable. It’s way easier to install.

Easiest is to make a sheath (liner from a housing and install it onto the existing cable before removal. if its too late for that, fish the cable in and use a thin telescoping magnet to grab the cable end. You could put a bend or curl at the end of the cable to help guide it on turns.

@@BikeTeacher thanks mate , I found one yesterday . In the UK they seem to be called solderless barrels . The ones with the screw in to clamp on the cable that is . Possibly too much tension on the cable. Use the barrel adjuster to loosen the cable, screw the barrel clockwise to collapse the barrel adjuster. If you have no more room to turn it clockwise you will need to loosen the cable at the pinch bolt and reset the barrel adjuster to half way at least.
@BikeTeacher6 жыл бұрын
You can do a test and release the cable (barrel) at the seat post. It should be a quick release, Test ride it and see if the seat drops by it’s self. If it still falls by it’s self you have an issue inside. I would talk to Specialized to see if it can be fixed by you are it may need to be sent in.

@willesloco6 жыл бұрын
I fixed it! the mechanic that set the bike up cut the cable to less than 12mm at the seat post :( I managed to eak out an extra 2 mm to the bitter end. It's not perfect and I will have to replace the cable, but for now it works. Millimetre's make all the difference with this seat post setup for the cable tension. It clearly states 17 mm in the manual so I do not know why they cut it to 10 mm?! Thanks for the video Bike Teacher, it was very helpful indeed.

Hi, sorry for the late response. I always look at the frame for holes for housing routing like you mentioned in your other comment. Some frames run tight inside especially those that force the housing around or under the bottom bracket. This does not allow for free space for the excess housing to go.
