I was a 15 yr. old teenager when I purchased a 1974 CL450 Honda Scrambler. I didn't even have a drivers license , a motorcycle license or motorcycle learners permit yet. I found the bike at a place called Ron's Cycle in North Smithfield , RI with my grandfather. Ron's allowed me to put the bike on layaway and pay so much every week until the bike was paid off , then I took it home. I rode that scrambler through the woods , down old railroad beds , in gravel pits etc. until I finally got my learners permit and could legally ride it on the street , then I rode it everywhere! I've owned a lot of other motorcycles since then ( Dual Sports - choppers - Cruisers - Big Bore Adventure bikes - Goldwings etc. ) but none of them compare to the fun I had on that CL450 scrambler when I was a teen. Since then I've always had a special place in my heart for scramblers. I absolutely love the new Triumph 900 Scrambler , it reminds me of the good ole days. I'm not physically able to ride anymore , but if I was I'd be siting on a Triumph Street Scrambler for sure! JT

Simply put, I bloody love these bikes. I have the 17 model, as you say, it has this ability to make you feel great and put a natural smile on your face. Along with a few basic custom extras, it's an absolute keeper. Could I justify getting rid of mine to replace with the 19 model, I'm not convinced due to the financial loss, but I'd be interested in taking a Scrambler 1200 for a spin!!

@@johnhogan8177 My thoughts exactly ..Fox on the back and new forkwork up front and Brembos .. I think I will enjoy my left over 17 at its reduced price as it is ... I added center stand heated grips and the bag on the back and am riding all winter ... A little salt on the black finish looks fine :)

Essentially did that with my 1982 Tiger Trail - changed the rear sprocket, fitted breadbox tank, set of up swept pipes and got rid of high front mudguard. Single Amal carb, 1 tickle, 1 kick bang 1st every time. Bike had loads of character, super reliable and never had to thrash it to enjoy it. Like the new one and simple, basic instrument set up.

Last May I bought a left over 2017 here in Connecticut USA .5000 k so far on her . Glad to hear they have made some improvements on my very very wonderful "Back Road Roadster.. I ride this bike on dirt & gravel and our bumpy bumpy back farm lanes ..It is beautiful here and this is a perfect bike for the horsey gentleman farmer estate land .. I love mine . The sound is warm and English and goes well with the quieter local sports cars .. It fits fine with the Morgan club of America ... .. Light enough for playing around and steady enough for longer rides .. I wish it had a larger tank and glad the new ones have better breaks upfront and more spring action in the forks .. Well if you have ridden horses you know how to post when you see a bump coming at any rate .. :)

I have had ‘scrambler fever’ for years but have never owned one. Recently went to the International Moto Show in LA so that I could sit on the new Triumph Scrambler.... but sitting on it did not do much. Watching your review moves me to want to sell my ‘17 T100. Well done🤙🏻 Your video crew has also done a stellar job, I would keep them🤗

Top review. I really like the way you capture the reason that someone might choose a particular model, and this bike truly embodies the reason I, and likely most life long bikers, ride. I should really just trade in my bike, get this, and be done with it.

the looks killed it for me woth the 1200 xe bike, street scrambler kills in that department, xe is just too tall, i hate the swingarm design on it. Just doesnt have the same classic bike feel to it. But i am sure it rides much better off road and 1200 cc is something i would definitly preffer. But since i will do most riding in the streets, its not a huge benefit to me.

Thanks for the review - I love the combo of stats and emotion - potential buyers want to know how it feels to ride - numbers alone don’t make me buy. I was wondering about this versus the road-biased new 1200 scrambler - are Triumph just competing against themselves here, or are they going for different target markets?

I get the feeling you really like this bike, John 😜 It has the same HP as my 2009 Versys, but a fair bit more torque and sounds a thousand times better. I think it'd make a great tourer for people who actually want to take it easy on the way there and see the scenery when there. At that price, the Kawasaki Z900RS is probably a strong competitor, though.

Nice review; for me the 900cc Scrambler is the way to go. In fact I've moved from the 1200 cc T120 which I loved as I wanted a lighter more urban tool. British pot holes are shocking so the slightly off road ability is really helpful for the bad British roads. Clearly you love the Scrambler, be interested in your view of the newere 1200 Scrambler.

simon varrie . I own the 2018 bike. It’s very comfortable, especially with a flyscreen fitted. It has an easy 150 mile range with the tank. Big drawback is the compromised luggage options due to the high exhaust. But if you can make do with soft luggage strapped to the back end, then yes it’s very capable.

12427$ new, straight from a dealership. 9317$, used 2017, only 800km on it. Is it worth it? I mean, both are the same - one has better brakes, is "new" and better power. The other one is "tuned down" so to speak, and "used". Dunno if it's worth to put extra 3k $ into it just for the bling.

@Philipp Flunkert bought 2019. Went for a test ride, loved it. Position, brakes, power - was all spot on. Older model had a slightly more forward position, worse brakes and was less powerfull. I know i could have bought the old one and upgrade it, but why bother? Btw, i highly recommend buyin V&H full exhaust. Got it for 3 days now, and damn it makes you happier when you ride it. I know it's hard to comprehend, but trust me - it makes you smile even wider when u open the throttle :) Gonna invest more money into it (new air filter+power commander+ECU maping) after the lease is done. Nice bike and review. But....one thing I really do not understand about these Bonnevilles. Why can't Triumph make a front mudguard that follows the tyre? Take a look, and you'll see that there's a hump by the gaiters. Awful! Otherwise a lovely bike!

I have a 2022 and the rear brake is mediocre at best. I don't like the front fork feel either. Tires might be OK if it really was a real Scrambler, but on the street they leave a lot to be desired. It is a great looking bike but it could stand some more refinement.
