Y'know I"m down with harvesting Jelly from Jellyfish for health but like, it has to be something you can frequently do to stock up on jelly jars in a fairly open world environment for it to feel satisfying for me.

Yellow Avenger? Well a BUNCH of them have yellow on them. Iron Man, Thor, the Wasp....And now Spongebob, truly the most ambitious crossover ever attempted.

I played this a lot on the PSP as a kid and I remember finding it very confusing. I felt like I was constantly walking in circles trying to figure out how to progress. Admittedly, it was satisfying when I was finally able to progress, but I accidentally dropped and broke the PSP when it felt like I was nearing the end. I said sorry to a brother of mine for such a slip up. It looks like I probably would have enjoyed the DS version more, but I did like it fine regardless. Solid review as usual.

It’s makes me happy to know that I wasn’t the only one who was getting confused with the game as a kid

Thanks for the review! I quite liked this game but I never 100% finished it, maybe not even half of it. The thing is, the back tracking to places you've walked to tens of times for new missions/quests, especially in a 2D controlled space with SpongeBob's slow walking speed, got very tedious to me. Nice visuals, music and plot though. It's nice to talk to Bikini Bottom people and go to places from the SpongeBob universe which are nicely modelled.

Marvel wrong for not having The Yellow Avenger himself appear to defeat Thanos smh smh!

Could have taken Thanos down the same way he saved the day in The SpongeBob Movie smh

I think the good sales of this game could be explained by the fact there's just a lot of SpongeBob fans that will buy the game without checking a review. :P

I'm playing through this one recently, it's kinda boring but, also charming, the button combos/stylus bs you gotta do to activate the power ups is pretty dumb, the fetch quests remind me of games like, Employee of the Month and, that gives a certain nostalgia feel to it.

This is a really nostalgic game for me. I remember playing this game a ton as a kid and getting to explore a full version of the shows world was pretty cool. Looking back on it now it’s pretty cool how they were able to combine a point and click with a metroidvania even if it isn’t the best. While the game was confusing it was also satisfying for me to figure out. Took me a long time, this was one of the first times i had to look something up for a video game. I think the game is pretty cool.

The only big problem with the Psp version is the slow loading screen. This is maybe my favourite Spongebob game, the script is awesome, really funny. And explore all the zones of the Spongebob universe is so cool and is has the best graphics of a Spongebob game for Ds. The jellyfish part was really fun in both versions and the way you obtain the powers works really well in the Ds and Psp. However in the rest of point and clicks parts, the psp is a bit boring because instead moving the objects in order to find the object, you only push a botom and the game find the item itself. I would prefer to have a Spongebob hand with the Dpad and move objects with the X bottom, it would be as fun as the Ds with that change. Even thought I recommend playing the game in any platform.

This game is a strange part of my childhood. Simply because I have it twice(My older copy temporarily went missing for months) and because it gave me a weird mix of excitement and frustration that made me accidentially break my first DS Lite, so I had to get a second one of those too. I always kinda liked the missionbased system(Yes, I am actually one of the 3 people who likes fetch quests, as long as they are not presented too dull) and the 2D openworld, but it sadly does not really do much with it all. In general, this game has a very bootleg feeling looking back and could be a lot better than it current is for sure. Proper Metroidvania, this sure ain't. Another point against the package is the lineup of bosses, which is...not exactly strong. The first one is quite literally the best while having nothing to do with the actual plot, so funny that. Then the second boss is a big difficulty spike for some reason(Yet is also the most boring one of them all somehow) because the last barrier feels nearly impossible to destroy without a full bubble-meter. There are two jellyfish-minibosses that are basically just stronger normal enemies you fight once each with no fanfare. And the final boss is the easiest boss in the game, simply requiring you to run from right to left 4 times. The PSP port(That I only know exists because of KZbin videos) is kinda weird too. It seemingly improved some things visually, but other things like the crusty hud are just the same as always, so it ends up with a less cohesive whole picture. Also, instead of changing how dialogue and cutscenes work to account for one less screen, they just display the character portraits in bubbles(and got rid of the micro-portraits in the boss-cutscenes), and it does not work that well imo. One good thing is that they fixed the lack of bossmusic during Jumbo Shrimp. One bad thing tho is that they added small cutscenes during the final boss that the boss can act during, while spongebob can't.(Gamedesign, lol)

I remember playing through this game once around the time it came out, and never touched it again. It was ok but not one of the better Spongebob games even back then, like you said it was way too long and the entire game was nothing but fetch quests and backtracking with the occasional boss battle thrown in.

I kinda don’t like the new style of the reviews. Why just Toonami-esque music and not game-fitting music?
@larrymantic26352 жыл бұрын
The Toonami style might work better for the CN stuff, but not Nickelodeon.
@CartoonReview2 жыл бұрын
The only thing that has changed is the intro and some brief bumpers, which take up like 1% of the video's run time. The content of the review is still exactly the same. If that effects your enjoyment of the reviews then so be it 🤷♂️
