I have a 2017 Allez Sprint and I love it!! I put on a Hunt 36/50 wheels and the bike is flying. I have done plenty of 7+ hour of riding with a lot of clombing, because of Smartweld way of welding, the bike is very stiff but forgiving. I love the feeling how Allez handle the corners, especialy when you going fast. It's a incredible machine :)

These are the two bikes I was cross-shopping. I ended up with the allez sprint. I upgraded the wheels/tires, seat, stem, bars/tape, cassette, brakes, rear derailleur and now I couldn't be happier. My $1550 bike quickly turned into a $3k bike 😄

@@ShaneAlfreds we went opposites on the component material composition 😃 ...I originally wanted a carbon stem, but they all seemed very pricey and not readily available in the spec I was looking for (130mm, -6°). I hadn't heard of pro vibe. I'll check them out. My next bike will definitely be more of an endurance geometry, but then again, any geometry in comparison to an allez would be considered endurance 😁

I've got the 2019 Allez Sprint Comp and I love it! It came with the longer cage rear derailleur so I do swap in an 11-32 cassette for long, hilly rides. I have done plenty of 4+ hour rides on it and even a 150 km hilly Gran Fondo. My only complaint with it as a crit bike is the stem and bar are pretty noodley. I put on a Pro Sprint carbon stem and Pro Sprint bar which is what the bike deserves. Next up is some stiffer wheels.

I had it down to the Allez Sprint Disc vs the TCR Advanced 2 Rim last year. The TCR in that case was clearly a much better value and probably the better bike overall but the Sprint just has a little more 'soul'.

Nice comparison, your attention to detail is unrivalled! I own a 2017 TCR Advance 1 Disc (with upgrades to Ultegra shifters and PRIME RP-50 rims) but was rear-ended by a car last year which wrote off the bike - at least for riding outdoors, as it's become a good turbo trainer rig. Now that I've recovered, I'm ready for a new steed. I'd like a bike with electronic gears, and am leaning towards SRAM's new Force AXS disc groupset. I have my eye on the Cube Agree C:62 SLT. In size 53, it has almost identical stack and reach measurements to my TCR (size M). Would you care to compare? I'd also be interested in the Radon Vaillant Disc 10.0 (cheap), the Ultimate CF SL Disc 8.0 Di2 (popular), and the Vitus ZX1 Team Road Bike (local to me in the UK). Hopefully some bikes there that you've not analysed yet!

I have ridden both bikes, both at 16lbs. The giant can be made lighter but when both are 16lbs the allez is so much stiffer. I absolutely love my allez sprint built with red mech and clx50 wheels topped with schwalbe pro one tubless tires. The only bike I've ever ridden that I liked as much or more was an sworks tarmac. But I have not ridden the top tcr yet. As far as comfort I have done 5 hours rides on the allez no problem. It all depends on your tires and wheels.

Great video as always. RE: doing long days on the Allez Sprint Disc Comp, I did a very slow 220km ride (getting keto fat-adapted) on mine a couple weeks after I bought her. I had the added benefit of wide 21C carbon wheels with Schwalbe Pro One 28mm tubeless tyres, but it was nonetheless a very long day in the saddle, and was especially awkward given the excruciatingly slow pace. But I rate the bike as more comfortable than an almost identical length ride I did on my Propel Disc some months earlier, and about the same comfort level as my Defy Pro Disc (the Allez had more road feedback than the defy but its racey stiffness allowed me to stand up and slowly mash the pedals in top gear to relieve my undercarriage far more often and confidently; I'm a big lad at 194cm/120kg). Overall, it's a great all-round bike and is absolutely stunning value for money. Here's the ride file: www.strava.com/activities/2270783920

@@bikotic once you get properly fat-adapted it's actually blissful for the very long stuff. Instead of having a finite ~2000cal tank of muscle and liver glycogen, you have a virtually infinite tank of adipose tissue that numbers tens of thousands of calories in even the slimmest among us. All over the endurance sports world, records are tumbling to fat-adapted athletes. I wasn't doing it to qualify for Kona though haha (weightloss).

@@bikotic nice one! I think I read about those blokes. Amazing stuff. I know what you mean about the impulsive sugar burning; I too found it very hard to eschew fast bunch rides and road/crit races, but given my weight it was a greater good sort of thing, and it's very effective in that regard. That said, it is possible to be very keto and selectively use carbs (usually gels strategically taken on the bike) for the fast stuff, but it is a bit sketchy.

the Allez Sprint is not nearly as uncomfortable as is generally stated. I have both that and a Madone SLR (rim). The Madone provides more comfort for many reasons but it is only noticeable on the very worst surfaces. I used to have a Trigon TR225 years ago and the Allez Sprint is much more comfortable than that. The Allez Sprint is a fast bike and devastatingly quick on accelerations.

Great review. All day riding, last June I rode from Liverpool to St Bees(150miles) in one day and had no issues whatsoever on my Allez Sprint. As for climbing I fitted a 50/34 -11/30 for this ride which made it just as capable as any other bike I’ve ridden, this ride was 12,000ft elevation and took us over Wrynose and Hardknott after 130miles and anyone who knows these climbs will understand what I’m saying. 👍

Always enjoy your comparisons. WRT ride quality of the allez, I would say this is not a bike for novices. While the price point is naturally cheaper than most carbon, it's ride feel is very agile and can be twitchy. Having said that, I built mine with custom parts, mid to high end, and the bike is best I have ridden. (riding for more than 30 years). What makes this bike better are good carbon rims and ideally tubeless tires 28c....

Giant have been a bit cheeky over the past few years with the TCR Disc - they've kept the same frame for years, they moved from a full hydraulic brake set up to their in-house Contend cable-pull hydraulic actuated abomination, then when they got slated for that moved back to full hyds but downgraded the crank set. Plus they charge £100 more for the pleasure. Poor form Giant. Also, the Gavia tyres are actually pretty quick.... but they're also absolutely lethal in the wet! They lasted a few sketchy moments before getting binned.
