"Do you know what is ankle?" "When you suffer, you should be happy, because you better shape!" "Life and death is the same thing" "When you upside-down, hard to tell what is what" "This is not a Cheese-Cake Factory, I don't 'Sell Power Here'" JUST A FEW OF MY FAVORITE BIKRAM QUOTATIONS from this audio. I love it. I went to a local (Bikram) studio for years until Covid and now have done this for a year. I know it in my sleep !! Thanks for posting. I've tried doing other 26/2 videos but the REAL Bikram himself is what I keep going back to

It is brilliant to have the 90 minute class with Bikram. No mirrors and little heat is more than enough to get the class done. Thank you Boss for the class. Lovely Bengali song at the end. Reminds of the teacher training so much.

This is an absolute godsend. I have missed doing classes so much, and my body has been suffering from the amount of massage I have been doing without adequate self care. People talk a lot of smack about Bikram, but I am here to tell you: he teaches you as a STUDENT. NOT A CUSTOMER! This will save you from injury at the hands of an inexperienced teacher. It took me a lot of just doing what he says to finally, after YEARS, understanding the rationale. Let him bark at you, this isn't for your ego! It's for body and soul. You can trust him. He is a TRUE teacher, which is tough to find in the West (though not as hard as finding a true student). J KENNEDY THX SO, SO MUCH, you're an angel! ♡

Hot and humid in south Texas, so I practice right at home. I actually like how you put this together, it offers no distractions so I can meditate well. Thank you so much. The only studios I have nearby have 60 minute 'hot yoga 26 poses' which isn't enough. This serves me daily--I had hidden pain in my lower back which is awake now and becoming fixed now because of you and Bikram and what builds up to camel pose! Thank you!

EVERY Bikram studio has a couple "scholarship" positions for people who can;t afford, but want to come regularly. You usually agree to clean after classes 2x a week--as in clean the studio/ bathrooms etc. A friend of mine did it and it only took him 30 minutes each time. Well worth it!

This is the instruction that was available for sale on cassette from Bikram's studio in Hollywood way back. The breathing sequence in the beginning is one of my favorites. Be careful if you are new to this. You do get dizzy. Bikram refuses to make or authorize a video so this will be as close as you can get. Get the book if you aren't sure what the poses are. This audio is really meant for listeners familiar with the sequences, meant to help you with timing. I like to alternate days between this sequence and Ashtanga. 😜

That's wonderful! I hope you continue to find value in this video. As for temperature and humidity control, that is indeed difficult. According to what Bikram just said,if a Jewish, Muslim , Christian or Atheist woman is home being happy and her loser of a husband walks into the house, finds the food not to his liking and he slaps the living shit out of her......If she allows that slap in the face to temporarily make her feel sad,she is a loser.Why is Yoga not teaching people how to behave better instead of teaching them to accept crap from others with joy and happiness.What are we supposed to be ....Robots with no feelings....I practice Yoga every day but Ill be damned if someone insults me and I think of myself as a loser for getting mad.That is when my bow and arrow will come in handy

Great commentary, I enjoy this class. Quite sexist, patriarchal and heteronormative with him calling a student “sweetie.” As a regular bikram practitioner I use this during covid and aside from some of this language he uses it is informative.

Your comment about the sexist tone of the instructor is common here. Despite Bikram's narcissism, the yoga practice itself seems to have a lot of value for participants.

I find the instructor to be very obnoxious. He insults the students and his delivery is more auctioneer than yogi. I did Bikram for many years because I didn't know any better. When you realize that the jokes and stupid metaphors are just part of the prescribed dialogue, that teachers all over the world are saying the same exact thing, you have to wonder whether anyone who teaches this method really knows a damn thing.
@kennedy44210 жыл бұрын
I've had similar experiences with Bikram, Tina. Even though the poses open my body up (along with emotional and mental releases), i've noticed that all the Bikram teachers i've had deliver the class in a similar fast-paced way. They also always "call out" a few students to correct their form. Perhaps it's a technique to keep practitioners more present and focused. I don't know. Culturally though, Bikram class is a rare place where the teacher-student relationship is less about compassion and more about following "orders". Regardless, the poses do leave me feeling rejuvenated. I hope you can find similar benefits despite Mr. Bikram's harshness.
@masochistmonkey10 жыл бұрын

@rainafortini57975 жыл бұрын
Tina Marsiello “... when you realize that the jokes and stupid metaphors are just part of the prescribed dialogue” actually the Bikram CD, and P crumbs recitation of his own dialogue, is vastly different. When I first learned this yoga it was in my apartment in NYC September 1989. A man named Sonny and his 7 yr old daughter (who demonstrated the postures perfectly) showed me the practice, without dialogue, and because I liked it so much we went to buy The book so I would have a reference to remember the sequence etc. I was still young and in great shape so it really wasn’t until I started to get older in my 40s that I ran like the wind to find a class, and studios slowly started to pop up all over the place by the late 90s etc.... But my point is it wasn’t until 2006 that I found myself in a hot studio, for the very first time with teachers only one of whom actually went to become training and she didn’t even use the dialogue… but one day we had this visiting teacher name Michelle from CT, Who was “rough and tough and funny” and I loved her class because she made 90 mins move along a lot more quickly just by being entertaining in a little silly… but the point is it wasn’t until about a year later, when I went to Bikram training, that I realized that was probably when I heard the dialogue for the first time. Sort of like you were saying I didn’t realize her funny clever silly jokes were something she was repeating from her dialogue training… But yourComment has me revisiting why I “got in trouble” at my training, showing up without ever having heard the dialogue with 300 other people who had not only been hearing it from their teachers but had also been given a copy of it to memorize before the training. So when I arrived I was surrounded by all these crazy people practicing the dialogue with each other and I had no idea what they were doing! It would be years later that I realized the reason I had enjoyed Michelle‘s class so much was because she was teaching the way she was taught to teach by using this dialogue… there is no doubt that Bikram himself can be a complete jerk, maybe even a borderline monster. Believe me I was put through the ringer by some of these people in the most unfair, cruel to this day I am crippled by the antics of these jerks... but hearing the dialogue trigger something in me that wishes I could just go back to the beautiful daily practice I had for a good solid five years or so, before I ended up having an accident and I have never really been able to do it like that again. To this day I still try to conjure up the energy to find a hot studio where I may have to drive for 40 minutes or longer, come home with a sack of smelly wet sweaty clothes, living without a washer and dryer washing them out in the bathtub hanging them up, ignoring the smell that accumulates over time blah blah blah... emotionally tearing the hair out of my head asking “why? Did a handful of people have to ruin my Bikram experience?” There is no other Yoga worth doing. Any other yoga class that I felt desperate enough to give a try, has every single time turned out to be some weekend warrior, maybe with a great body who likes to show off their own flexibility, who teaches like they just watched a Denise Austin video and then change the sequence but always, and I mean always always always they introduce The sun salutation that they do at least for half the class over and over again, which is why everybody in the world likes to make downward dog jokes because that’s the one they remember! So I think it’s funny that you would say become teachers don’t know what they’re doing… as human beings quite often they really don’t, they’re hypocrites, they are back stabbers, they are liars.... but still 10,000 times more likely if the conditions are right to do half a yoga the way it’s meant to be that it hurt like a work out, not the “Namaste ya later” PS yoga that Westerners tried to throw incense and candles on top of emphasizing meditation and the worst is when a teacher uses a gong lol.... there is no better class than a Bikram yoga class, even for people who are more advanced.... The reason I was able to become healthier at the age of 50 then I was at the age of 25 was because of the routine. I could pace myself, pace my breath, keep my mind focused because it was as routine as a daily shower. I mean to actually be able to accomplish doing a 90 minute hot sweaty yoga class every single day for almost 5 years is what restored my health. If I had to show up and the teacher felt pressured to “keep it interesting” and read stupid little on us for cosmic advice passages type crap I wouldn’t of been able to have a dud for it… There would’ve been days I just wouldn’t have showed up. But because it was such a defined, reliable, simple dialogue it allowed me too personalize it bring whatever I could day today, always a little bit different, but always deepening and growing. I would always tell people who said they hated the routine of it that that was what I loved most because it made it as simple and straightforward is jumping in the shower soaping up drying off and going out to enjoy my day… can you imagine having to decide a new and interesting way to take a shower every day? You’d get pretty stinky. Sadly, as I said, you aren’t entirely wrong about Bikram himself and his teachers... however the yoga is the best there is. Not to mention he’s been doing it for the past 40 years or so, the original hot yoga, all the details of which very carefully thought out to the point where they’re doing it pretty much the same to this day although I hear with a lot more heart after all that’s happened, which is a good thing. One last thing, the very first time I heard the CD was at Bikram Yoga Yorktown, around April 2006. I think there were only three of us the owner and another teacher and myself not yet a teacher deciding to practice together and we all heard it for the first time… I had trouble containing my laughter calllike a 747 taking off” but because the owner and the other woman sort of gave me the serious look I tried to stop myself from laughing it was a little weird but the point is I instantly fell in love with how much fun it was… still I had no idea it was something people were supposed to memorize…This studio opening only 10 minutes from my home! I was the very first one to show up at the door, absolutely over the moon that I wouldn’t have to drive for a half an hour anymore… That is until the woman became a total nutcase over the website I had made for her and threatened me with legal action because she couldn’t figure out why my Apache server password didn’t work in her GoDaddy account... I shit you not and because of that, because I didn’t return a phone call one day this woman basically destroyed my life. Even when I had nothing to do with her studio when she found out I had gotten a scholarship to go to Honolulu to become a teacher she “warned them” that I was a dangerous person and I’m not sure what else she said but it completely colored my experience. Unnecessary burdens were created and that coupled with my own in patience and frustration left me hitting my head against walls up and down the East Coast. It was as if people knew I was vulnerable so knew exactly how to take advantage, and if I spoke out or stood up for myself I had somehow find myself getting in trouble again… And as I said along the way seven years ago I took a bad fall and I’ve never been the same since. I didn’t intend to write my entire back room life story but it’s been interesting to think about. For a while I was walking with two canes, recently had to undergo a total hip replacement from the severity of my arthritis, now 100 pounds overweight I still can’t believe that I am 100 pounds more than I was at my training very difficult to lose when you can’t even walk very well anymore… and yet I am going to get my fat butt in the car and drive about 40 minutes to the class tomorrow at noon and the teachers going to do a very similar dialogue to this… A lot of it she’ll repeat it will touch my heart and resonate inside of me sometimes when I close my eyes I can flashback to a few joyous times in Hawaii where I had probably the most incredible time of my life although sadly I wasn’t really able to enjoy it thanks to Jane Kartsch...Who now owns at least two studios.... makes me remember/realize that even at that training in 2007 I lost 30 pounds in about 2 1/2 months nine weeks… on the very last day of our training Rajashree joked with everybody about “so who lost the most weight while we’ve been here?” People started shouting out numbers, 10 pounds! pounds! 23 pounds! I had lost I think it was exactly 29 pounds... so I had one that little contest but all the people were tapping on Rajashree‘s shoulder pointing at me that I had lost all that weight she pretended to not here. She refused to acknowledge me... I mean the absolute mind games that went on because of what Jane had done to me... they told me they wouldn’t give me my certificate until I had paid them back thousands of dollars for the scholarship that they’ve given me… I was barely allowed to teach. I remember they had some big meeting where Bikram said “how will she pay me back if she can’t teach?“ So they let me teach but made me feel like a parolee. It’s funny I still don’t know how to end this comment! Because I’m simultaneously agreeing with you that Bikram teachers can be idiots… And yet you’ve made me realize more deeply once again, that’s the point of having a system, and reliable dialogue to help us turn off our minds so we can deepen our practice. Thank you!

For some reason KZbin is in allowing me to edit my typos so I am re-posting here: lol “... when you realize that the jokes and stupid metaphors are just part of the prescribed dialogue” actually the Bikram CD, and Bikram’s recitation of his own dialogue, is quite a different. But you’re right the teachers are asked to memorize the dialogue as precisely as possible… but that’s what makes it so great. It took me a while to understand why, because like you it seemed sadly cookie cutter but it’s really not.

The sexual harassment directed towards the probably very scared young lady he kept calling sweetheart is so obvious , I am wondering why all the so called feminists of the world , are not even noticing it

Could not concentrate with this guy...too much time spent talking.

there are specific reasons why there is talking during bikram. a little secret as to one reason is that the talking is a distraction you are to use as a tool to focus past so it NO LONGER is a distraction. that only comes with time and practice.
