The sad part about our country is that by the time you're earning enough money to afford unpoisoned groceries from small farms, or your able to own land to grow your own food, you're already old and have an entire lifetime of eating poison. Even our organic food is a joke compared to just about every other country. We allow more pesticides and growth hormones in our Organic food than anyone else. Even if you decide to move out to the middle of nowhere so you can grow your own food, now you're presented with the problem of finding work. Citizens United, the SCOTUS decision that gave corps that power and created unlimited money in politics through superPACS, is the worst decision in US history. It sold elections to the corporations and Elon Musk’s of the world and took them away from the people. People may still be who votes, but their votes are heavily informed and swayed by the info, and more importantly, the disinformation, that these PACs put out through ads and social media, including bots. Almost everyone is too lazy to actually research so they just go by what they see on those ads and social media. As long as it meets their preconceived point of view they are willing to believe it and, in a great many cases, would rather believe the lie than actual facts if it makes them feel warm and fuzzy. That’s how Trump won. He lied about nearly everything he said, but he was saying what many wanted to hear to make them feel better about the worst qualities within them.

Actually back in the 70s and thanks to the Nixon administration and passing Enviromental laws and lots of environmental activism much has actually been done on pollution. Nixon actually had 1000s of photographers go around the country and document pollution and how things were at that time. If you ever get a chance to look at those photos you can actually see how much things have changed for the better since the early 70s.
