If a woman wrote in saying she did all those things for her boyfriend, bought him a bycicle and gym membership and supplements, cooked meals for him twice a day, only to find out he still just buys junk food every day (essentially lying to her), I am sure she'd be very sympathetic and understanding for the guy, and certainly would not recommend the girl break up with him to find someone that appreciates her and takes care of himself 🙄

I agree with the guy. 24 years old and gained 60-70 lbs. Smoking weed every night and eating like that. No excuses. He should have stayed the course and not used the jowl/saggy title language. He does care about her health or he'd blow her off and cheat. He's cooking her 2 meals a day for her, paying for supplements, gym. Come on man.... Nia is THE BEST.

Mia’s completely missing the point. Let’s just say the guy met the girl and he had a really great job, paid the bills, emotionally supportive. A couple years later he gradually stops doing all of those things and lies about looking for a job and starts doing drugs daily. Not ok. She’s taking this guy for granted and she probably expects him to be attracted to her even though she’s not attracted to herself. As a nurse that weight gain a short amount of time is very dangerous. I’d leave her. She’s a lied to his face for a year. She handles stress in a destructive way and expects him to pick up the pieces. Majority of us women are so emotional and it crowds sound judgement. This is why I laugh at women saying “we run the world” 😒

@@bambilotto This is such a great take. It's well-reasoned. People get a little out of shape, don't like the way they look, and get incredibly defensive about it. It's their insecurities exploding out of them. Like Nia just did. But, honestly, if you are not taking care of your business and expecting your partner to pick up the pieces, that is such an unhealthy expectation. Both men and women do that, and it's always unfair.

Yeah, if he's have stayed away from the jowls, he would be much more sympathetic. But the woman has a legit problem, whether it's her job or something else, and it's killing her. 60-70 lbs is no joke. For most people, anything over 20 lbs is significant.

I normally love Nia's input, shes funny and quick and a good counterbalance to bill, but i could not finish this one. She became so irrationally angry that the conversation was over before it began. Bill calmed her down but she might need to look at this one again and see how she feels about it from a fresh start. Love Nia but it was frustrating listening to her go out of her way to excuse alll the chicks flaws, the biggest of which was the lying and sneaking, and then ignore all the dude did for his girlfriend. I love the show and will keep listening and looking forward to hearing more of Nia. Cant write someone off for one conversation i didnt like.

It's not shallow at all Nia. Dude literally TRIED to help her lose weight because he didn't find it attractive. He cooked for her and made her lunches, just to find out she's throwing them away for a McDouble. He has every right to be upset and to leave if he wants to. If she wants to slowly delete herself through junk food that's on her. He shouldn't be forced to deal with that. You wouldn't want that for your son so don't shame someone else's for doing what you would tell your own son to do.

Why does it have to be a problem that he wants a hot lady? It's a big deal to be attracted to the person you're with. Why does he have to "care about her health" for his concern to be justified? Fuck that, he wants his hot lady and that's completely fine.
@bradleylovej
@bradleylovej Жыл бұрын
This is what I've been asking as well. Why can't we just say, "I was no longer attracted to my partner," and move on? She got a new job, started eating like shit, lied to her partner, and didn't really want to work on it. So she gets dumped. Big deal, happens everyday. Where's the accountability on her end? She should say, yeah I took advantage of my boyfriend's trust and effort, so he moved on. I understand I shouldn't have done those things. It's not like her life is over. She's still got a good job and her youth. Get it together and get back out there. The very root of a relationship is that you are attracted to one another. Unless... it's not? Is it possible some people enter into relationships because they crave emotional support, money, attention, etc. and don't really care about the other person or how their destructive decisions and lifestyle hurt that person? That girl who gained all the weight is worse than shallow. She expected she could do whatever she wanted and that her significant other would just deal with it, even if he didn't agree. That's called being selfish and immature.

No dude was worried about how she looked. He wasn’t worried about her health. He was worried about how she looked. I look good and I want someone who looks good like me. I am healthy and I want someone who’s healthy like me. He has a standard he wants her to live up to that standard. Don’t get me wrong. It sounds good. What are you saying but sometimes it’s not what you say how do you say it. He could’ve easily approached her and said honey I think you’re gaining too much weight you’re putting yourself your health on the line. I’m worried about the hyper tension. I’m worried about diabetes. I’m worried about heart disease, but instead look at his comments that he wrote in, he’s talking about looks he’s not talking about health. He’s talking about saggy breast, and a beer belly. He’s not talking about poking yourself to check your insulin level

Nia was giving me head ache lol! How many legit points does Bill have to make b4 he is right. Most of us get it. Shes feeling things and trying to solve it. Yes he said things that were unneeded. Not shallow really. Being over weight at any age isnt good and whether or not its female or male having kids that worse. Everything he is saying is from a health perspesctive from how he says it any way. Its not fair to either 1 of them. She isnt feeling good and he is fustrated. If they do love each other unconditionetly they can work it out.To help out 2 people its probably easier to see both sides there Nia on this 1 at least. Yes im 28 and have nothing figured out but can have this little bit of senscability and also forgot how to spell at the same time LOL

1. Bill is a master. Wow, I didn't know he could diffuse like that 2. I don't understand why someone can't say they just aren't attracted to their partner anymore and move on. It sounds like the guy tried, and she is hell bent on destroying herself. You know if this was a woman saying her husband became a fat slob and she wasn't attracted to him anymore, her friends would be telling her to move on. Nia acts like this person got a little love handles and the man doesn't want her anymore. Absolutely not the case. 60-70 pounds is a lot of weight. It is absolutely kind, polite, and responsible to keep yourself attractive to your partner. Now, there needs to be some understanding. With age, stress, and various life factors, people won't always look like they did when they were young. But it sounds like she became obese. Quickly. And wasn't backing down. So he's supposed to stay with someone who he's not attracted to because she got a new job and can't keep it together? That's incredibly unfair. Where's the accountability on her part? Also, if you feel like someone can, 'throw you away,' then you should reconsider dating and maybe spend some time with yourself. Being strong enough to stand on your own two feet is step one in being an adult. If someone no longer wants to be with you, that does not decrease you worth. If you feel like it does, then you need to re-evaluate and probably spend some time alone figuring out who you are.

I have to agree with Bill she will not lose that weight because she already created bad habits of eating which is hard to break. If she no longer active at 24 where it's easier to be she definitely won't be motivated after 30 and especially with kids. She need to drop that weight like it's hot. And I am a female who believes keeping it sexy as long as you can. If I'm no longer physically attracted to you what are we doing.

Exactly! My extremely Christian mother once told me, "You have to be attracted to your partner. Sure, you need to connect intellectually and emotionally, but at the end of the day, if you aren't attracted to each other it's never going to work." And that's from a conservative Baptist

Bill gave sage advice here. I had a GF who I tried to help with some of her problems and she barely made any effort to change so after about 1.5 years of it I had no choice but to break up with her. Love is really NOT unconditional. No matter what anyone says. If someone isn't going to make the effort to change for someone they love, and it's for their benefit, then the relationship is on the rocks and it's a matter of time before it ends. I feel like a lot of people have a hard time comprehending this and they're like "oh you didn't really love them." No, if I didn't love them I would have left right away. You cannot help someone who doesn't want help.

Nia is a great person, but she identified herself too much with the girl, which made her assume what the guy meant behind his words and the overall context (which noone knows for sure). Because she got so angry it was hard for her to be rational again. Nia has a big head start over many women. Yes, she tries to save herself or the situation, although everything is already lost and she knows it, as all women do. But she does not stop listening and allows herself to be convinced on many points. I agreed with her at the beginning 💯, but then Bill went ahead and made a lot of points that can't be refuted. The point of Nia that remains is the emotional level of the problem and she 💯 is right. Not a word from the man who goes into the cause of her eating behavior. Instead of caring about his girlfriend's emotions as well, he is only concerned with physical appearance and physical health. But not about the true cause, which lies in the psyche.

Yeah, my HS sweetheart had this going on. We fought like cats and dogs as teenagers, but our personalities meshed really well and that kind of thing can be fun when you're young. We stayed in touch, and were reconnecting in our early-30's. She had a corporate job and had gained a ton of weight. I mean to the point I wasn't super attracted to her anymore, but I was still trying to figure it out. If there was anything still there. And the more I talked to her, the more I realized she was bitter, mean, and self-centered. And it made so much sense that she gained a bunch of weight. Because she had no discipline and everything was about her, so if she wanted to eat a cheeseburger and get drunk, she would. Every day. And just like you're saying, having known her for over ten years at that point I just stepped back and said, "huh, all this has been in the making."

It's a shame Nia is poisoned by the media and the feminist movement so baddly that she is so aggressive when it comes to emotional issues. I am affraied Bill is right that ladies do not respect or appreciate any mans point of veiw. When iit comes to honesty and emotional stability. The bottom line is if you want the repect and privileges of a man. You also have to take the responsibility and tough love men must endure everyday. Face it! If a man does not step up and pay and protect as well as keep himself healthly. The lady is going to steal as much as she can and try and find a replacement!!! I understand you have been taught a differant message. But, in the end you may find that in your own life things may not workout! Ladie in the USA may not need a man for money like they did in 1950's. But, men never needed a woman. You may say "Oh But they want a woman" however, if they get hurt enough. The will just get a girl by the hour!!! So, the message is the guy needs to want he and the girl has to repect him enough to make more of an effort!!! An yes I know!!! Drop dead!!!!! ;-)

All right, take it easy, buddy. There's a whole lot of really level-headed women in these very comments. There's also plenty of emotional men who all you'd have to tell them is a war story and they'd vote for you.
