There's a HUGE context missing for when in 1988 the Celtics "didn't" shake the Pistons hands at the very end of Game 6: This was back in the day when fans were still allowed to rush the court after a series win. 99% of the time, players from both teams wanted to gtfo asap, as to not be a part of those chaotic rushes, and that also meant a lot of the guys were en route to the locker room with time remaining on the clock. 1. The Celtics were in legit danger if they stayed on the court one second longer from deranged Detroit fans. 2. The league changed the security by 1991, IE the Chicago fans weren't going to rush the court after the Bulls swept them. 3. When the Pistons lost to Boston in 1987, Isiah Thomas infamously went out his way to double down on ~"If Larry Bird was black, he'd just be considered an average player." -- why would Bird ever want to shake his hand after that? Also, RE the Dream Team, everyone on that team hated Isiah Thomas. With the possible exceptions of David Robinson, because of his Christianity, and maybe Laettner, but only because he hadn't played against him professionally yet. But it wasn't only MJ's decision.

Larry did that because the pistons tried to hurt him on the court and they hated each other

I got a hockey story you should explore. The 1976 Philadelphia Flyers-Red Army game. You think the Pistons were the "bad Boys"? The Pistons were "juvenile delinquents", the Flyers were serial killers. The Soviets made the mistake of agreeing to the NHL rules, on the smaller NHL ice, and NHL referees. Instead of being able to use their skill, the Flyers just took it to them physically. The Soviets wouldn't come out of the locker room after the 2nd period. They finally returned when they were told they wouldn't be getting paid for the exhibition. LMAO-- Communists- motivated by money.
@erikrichards5072Күн бұрын
The Soviets weren't bothered by the physical play. They had been playing these exhibitions for years. It was Bobby Clarke going lumberjack on a Soviet star's achilles, possibly ruining the man's career. Wasn't a hockey play. Broadstreet Bullies were brutal.

5:40 The reason past generations looked older was because of sun exposure. Most people regardless of skin tone, SHOULD wear sunscreen when they'll be outside, but most people didn't until the mid to late 90s. I'm sure most of us have seen that picture of the sun damaged truck driver (Bill McElligott) whose left side of his face is super wrinkled and the right side is normal.

Good to see how this documentary completely ignored Luc Longley… Edit: if you get the time or have the interest you should watch ‘One Giant Leap’ which is his (Luc’s) basketball journey…interesting story
@ergoatКүн бұрын
Yeah, The Last Dance really should have coughed up a few dollars to fly Luc in for interviews, or fly out to Australia to do some interviews there. Even if it only amounted to less than 5 minutes total screen time.

John Salley was likeable and didn't get filthy. Bill Laimbeer on the other hand, played with malice aforethought. He was a cinematic villain. He tried to take you out and would whine when the refs called him out. There was no player I found more loathsome in any sport, ever!

I started watching a lot of NBA basketball from the early eighties onward, I was a huge LA Lakers fan, what the Pistons were doing was so much more physical than what the Celtics or anybody before them did , I thought it ruined basketball for the next 20 years it was way too physical. The games of the 90s were much lower scoring and very very physical. In some interview David Stern actually admits it. You shouldn't really describe it as too physical, it was dirty it was football. It was actually filtering down to the college game as well for a long time, did anyone see the Butler Connecticut championship game was that 2011 or so, I believe the night of or the next day after the game some very famous sports journalist said that was the worst big game I've ever seen, they need to look at some rules changes to allow free movement, it's gotten too damn physical

Hey, Isiah, What number did you wear with the "92 Dream Team?" KARMA. Isiah is a horrible human being. Take what happened with the Bulls, the "walkoff", he single handedly destroyed the CBA, and the Knicks STILL are horrible. While I admit to not liking the Yankees or the Cowboys is due to how OBNOXIOUS their fan bases are- I truly hate the Pistons because of the team lack of class or character.

I played youth, High School, College, AND semi-pro football. People use dirty tactics when their skills are lacking. Example: you calling people out because you don't have facts to back up your position. It's a crutch to make up for a lack of substance or character.

@ What in the H E double hockey sticks are yammering on about??? lol, little goof. You don’t have the slightest inclination, idea, and apparently intellect, since you don’t know me, don’t know what I know, what character I do possess or anything else. You made a blatant statement, and are surprised when you got push back. Bring it on, I will flick you away. Bill Lame Sneer is one of the most hated players in ALL of sports, and Isiah is a petty little liar. Bird actually hated the Pistons more than MJ. As Eminem would say, know your facts before you come at me, little goof. At the end of the day, these are just opinions by faaantastic, faaanatics..☑️👌😎 JP
