This album is Grammy worthy, and this song is a masterpiece.

Are you sure ? %^ ) Bill Callahan and the involvement in the Grammys would be more tragic than Elliot Smith. He's to good for the Grammys.

Iam working my way through your back catalogue . Not sure were I started in the middle I think. Dream river clicks because of hotel life for me . Shepard in a sheepskin vest made me smile .

Hope you enjoy it. I've loved Bill Callahan since the early '90s (not literally - tho he's had his share of many many women) and I've been to hundreds of shows (literally) and the one Smog show I went to was astonishingly in the bottom 5 of all time shows. Friend and I actually walked out---I know it's almost impossible to imagine anyone who gets and appreciates him at all (much less who's a giant fan) would ever do that, but it was absolutely excruciating. This was somewhere in the 1999-2002 era.

Bill Callahan reflecting upon understanding his own anger management issues. So beautiful and touching.

also: in an interview, bill says this song is about how he didn't get angry over things, when maybe he should have-- & i see that-- bill, playing it cold, remaining in isolation, when he might have communicated, or at least "cleared some things away"
@martinp31195 жыл бұрын
@@katythekyngI think "anger management issues" is not the best way describing what I meant. I agree with you and think that to allow yourself to feel negative emotions is absolutely necessary. Especially anger. To feel and communicate negative emotions while not hurting others leads to a more fulfilling life. This is rarely being taught at schools or in families. One can learn it in psychotherapy. Or from living with a psychotherapist :)

@@martinp3119 yeah, seems bill learns some things the hard way. he makes it sound so pleasant here tho :)

Remarkable poetry by a unique, genuine and unusual singer-songwriter. He never betrayed himself through the years. [Bill Callahan - Vocals / Guitar , Brian Beattie - Bass (Cello) , Adam Jones - Drums, Matt Kinsey - Guitar] The Ballad of the Hulk "Well, I've been looking back At the old ways Over my shoulders Like salt or sugar Well, I'm just talking about the old days Groundwork for footwork Well, after this next song we'll be moving along Out of this vein It's called "The Ballad of the Hulk" You know I used to share a tailor With David Bruce Banner That's the Hulk Traveling jackets and traveling bags Future rags And shoes good for walking highways But never quite far enough away To see how good and easy it could be If I just got angry But I never got angry Maybe I should have I could have cleared some things away In those old Bill Bixby days A master of reiki Waved his hands over me And said I eat too much steak And hold on too long to ancient aches And both are so hard On my heart Oh, I try to be a good person I wonder if it's annoying Or worth pursuing And pursuing And pursuing Down highways At the risk of the road"
