Now they can't even say it was because Hillary was so polarizing...Kamala was almost completely unknown on the national stage. The assassination of Yitzak Rabin: Rallies organized by Likud and other right-wing groups featured depictions of Rabin in a Nazi SS uniform, or in the crosshairs of a gun.[2][3] Protesters compared the Labor party to the Nazis and Rabin to Adolf Hitler[5] and chanted, "Rabin is a murderer" and "Rabin is a traitor".[8][9] In July 1995, Netanyahu led a mock funeral procession featuring a coffin and hangman's noose at an anti-Rabin rally where protesters chanted, "Death to Rabin".[10][11] The chief of internal security, Carmi Gillon, then alerted Netanyahu of a plot on Rabin's life and asked him to moderate the protests' rhetoric, which Netanyahu declined to do.[8][12] Netanyahu denied any intention to incite violence

National religious conservatives and Likud party leaders believed that withdrawing from any "Jewish" land was heresy.[4] The Likud leader and future prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, accused Rabin's government of being "removed from Jewish tradition [...] and Jewish values".[2][3] Right-wing rabbis associated with the settlers' movement prohibited territorial concessions to the Palestinians and forbade soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces from evacuating Jewish settlers under the accords.[5][6] Some rabbis proclaimed din rodef, based on a traditional Jewish law of self-defense, against Rabin personally, arguing that the Oslo Accords would endanger Jewish lives

An actual solution being reached by withdrawing support for Israel and using such strong leverage to FORCE them to end the apartheid is a worst-case scenario for him, it will prove that it was possible all along and that he was a monster for not doing it sooner.

Israel is telling the world in real time what it is facilitating and what the end goal is for them. They are constantly saying the silent part out loud. The best is Patel over DOS presser the other day, when pressed on AI’s report, dismisses the conclusion, while signaling he didn’t read it. We are long beyond needing to argue for substantiation from those committing the most abominable crime in all of history, to conclude what is taking place in Gaza.

Let's assume he was being honest and Arafat walked away from a "great" deal. Why does a chance at peace have to be a once in life time chance? So his message to "young Americans" is they should ignore the genocide and support barbarism because Arafat who is now late walked away from a deal? Any scholar of note on the subject matter would tell you that at no point in time were the Palestinians offered any deal worth taking. You don't even have to go into history. Just look what's happened in the past 2 years. How many times did we hear that a ceasefire agreement had been reached and who kept shifting the goal post?

I am a 73 year old man and I have spent the better part of my life trying to understand why I seem to always feel a certain sadness in my heart. Then I thought, maybe this had something to do with it. Hopefully this story brings out others like me. In 1963 Zionists came to my home in Casablanca Morocco, to convince my parents to send me and my little sister to Israel without them. I was 12 and my sister 9 when we started our miserable journey to the "Promised land". It destroyed our family and left me and my sister with long lasting scars neither one of us has been able to heal. Being from Morocco made it even more difficult to live in a more racist country than Morocco ever was. We had a very peaceful life as Jews living amongst Muslims in Morocco. We understood each other and helped each other. To this day, the principal advisor to King Mohamed is a Jew. But the Zionists needed boddies to fill Israel and slowly claim more and more land from the Palestinians they kept displacing. The people running Israel are not Jews. True Jews would have helped the Palestinians evolve and share in their fortunes, like we did for centuries in the Arab world. Israel claims it is defending itself? Against whom? The people they have been displacing and opressing for 80 years? Israel, my advice to you, if you want to survive, get rid of the religious zealots who run your government and join the 21st century.

African American here 👋🏾 Comparing this to blaming African American civil rights leaders is not accurate and a little offensive tbh. MLK was a nuisance to LBJ to get that voting rights bill passed. Constantly creating pressure in the form civil disobedience, on the podium, AND in one on one meetings with Johnson whenever he could. Arafat is not a Dr. King, or a Malcom X for that matter. Yes Clinton’s statement is misleading, but his central point is sound. Arafat walked away from a mediocre deal, but he NEVER made a counter offer which is negotiation 101. If your people are dying and facing oppression, why wouldn’t you keep pushing for something? A starting agreement that could be revisited in ten years upon certain requirements being met, or a transition of control over resources from the Israeli’s to the Palestinians over the course of five years, I mean come on. He had options if he decided to continue trying, but he quit. And you guys are letting him off the hook, which tells me you don’t really care about the Palestinians. They deserved better leadership in that moment. Two things can be true at once. Clinton can be misrepresenting the facts, AND Arafat failed the Palestinians as a negotiating partner to the Israeli’s. Your fixation on flattening Palestinian leadership into two-dimensional victims incapable of making mistakes is its own form of orientalism and racism. They’re not full human beings to you. They’re just victims. When you care about someone, you’re willing to hold them accountable. And your lack of accountability toward the Palestinians lets me know that you’re not interested in their safety or prosperity. Smh.
