Reality is there are alot of people from old Hollywood with shady pasts that for most we didn't learn of until long after their deaths. and yet, we still call their works Hollywood treasures. Cos is no different, even though he lived to go through paying for it. it is what it is, his works from the past are treasures. If a person can watch gone with the wind knowing what happened to the black actors on the cast and the celebration of slavery... I do not see much of a difference in looking back on what we loved cosby for. before we all found out about his life antics. hollywood scandals. they are what they are or dont watch any of it. not even youtube.

Bill Cosby and Sammy Davis, Jr. collaborated in live performances on Broadway and on tour in selected theaters across the country!! 💯

It would seem that it was recorded in 1988, but released after Davis' passing in 1990, hence the tacked-on "I'll see you later, Sam." It was not one man saying good night after a performance, it was a tribute.

Sammy Davis Jr. was alive and so cool! Bill Cosby too, unlike his current situation now though (we have to try to ignore it)! These guys were living the real life, because in that dispensation of time they were truly enjoying themselves and living life for real! There would be no need to resurrect Sammy now in this day and age, because surely if he were to see what is going on today, he would be sad. When I heard Sammy Davis Jr. bust out singing, I had just realized that I was Born In The Wrong Era! I wish I could say, "You can keep this dispensation of time to yourself, with all its misery and Covid - 19, but I wish to be sent on a one way trip back to the 80's and remain stuck there forever!" I only wish. If any of you wish the same thing by any chance, then do yourself a favor and keep repeating this to yourself (tapping your heels together as well is unnecessary): "I was Born In The Wrong Era! I was Born In The Wrong Era! I was Born In The Wrong Era!" Keep on repeating it to yourself until you really believe it, because deep down, you know it's the truth!

This is the best TV show I have ever seen. At the concert celebrating Sammy Davis Jr.'s 60 years of acting career (he's 63 years old❗), the members are amazing, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, Whitney Houston, and so on. According to Koichi Kitamura's "Jazz Vocal Sentimental Journey", Sammy Davis underwent surgery for pharyngeal cancer a little while ago, lost his voice, and the progress was not so good, and the performers also said their last farewell at the same time as the celebration. It seems that I knew it would be.

Cosby and Davis were longtime friends and Davis had a sense of humor about himself. I don't think that either you or I could walk up to Davis and start making eye jokes. Cosby has spoken to far more audiences for a living than you or I, so he has, by this time, a good idea of what he can say. As for "PC", standards and times change. Social media has allowed organization of outrage, so change* happens faster now. PC is not a great term: I prefer "responsible". Free speech is expensive, won at a great cost. It does not mean spouting off at one's heart's content. Complaining about political correctness should be better framed as "context". Watching/hearing art and having a grasp on the sociological trends of the times makes for a better experience. That is why "A Doll's House" by Henrik Ibsen was such a scandal in the 19th century. It is no longer a bold move to write a play about a woman thinking of leaving her husband. *If you don't believe that humor changes (and should), take a look at this link: www.ozy.com/good-sht/shaw-and-lee-vaudevilles-loony-futurists/41753/
@simonsez1787 Жыл бұрын
@@brianphillips579very well said. Thank you for this. PC has become a pejorative, where it doesn’t mean what people think it means. Many think it means brutal honesty and that what is said is somehow an infallible truth. People also tend to think being “free” is saying everything you think when in reality, they wouldn’t say certain things in front of their sweet old grandma. Strangers deserve that same basic respect. It’s being like you said, simply responsible.
