That's how it used to be done. I learnt visual basic and SQL in the early 2000s with just a book and a PC with laughably low specs (933MHz 256MB RAM with a whopping 20 GB of hard disk)

Nearing billionaire status at that age is not hard to see confidence. Not to say however that he did not pursue stuff even at 18, his goals and interests came first. Even basic, they didn't have time to do it so bought the other half which shows "going for it". And Ctually made agreement with IBM for delivery of the software without in sight very probable to complete program by deadline. Butade agreement and kept deadline, and bought half the product for faster. You have to be a grinder.

I admire people like Bill who become successful just doing something they enjoy. He had no clue he would become a billionaire from doing software when he started. He enjoyed it and had a talent for it and everything else fell into place. If you read the history of how Windows became the standard for the personal computer, you would see no one could have predicted it. Long story short, Windows was supposed to be a temporary OS for IBM's PC with the idea of replacing it with one built by IBM, which Microsoft actually started to work with IBM on, but through various factors, Windows became the standard. That's why I laugh when people say Bill Gates is rich only because his Mom knew some executive at IBM or through shady business practices. He had no clue Windows would become the standard. He was probably just as surprised as anyone.

@Mali Neki i heard her. It is striking what she is saying because it is so deluded. And you like many have fallen for somebody else's delusion. I suggest you clear your mind and have a look at the facts again. Btw bill gates idea of depopulation is an old idea: if you save children through vaccines and medicines, people reproduce less.
