Legendary artist Bill Medley, best known as one-half of GRAMMY-winning duo The Righteous Brothers, brings his iconic voice to Vince Gill classic “These Days.” Adding his unmistakable baritone, Medley invited Gill, who originally wrote and released the wistful ballad back in 2006, into the studio to help him cut the all-new recording. “These Days (feat. Vince Gill)” offers the first taste of Medley’s forthcoming album, Straight From The Heart, a 14-song collection that finds the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer covering mega-hits from some of country music’s finest acts.

Separately they are music legends who have been part of lives for decades upon decades. But now they come together for the first time on a bluesy take of a country classic. Bill Medley was one half of the award winning duo The Righteous Brothers (“Unchained Melody”) and had a second career outside of the group (most notably with the #1 Dirty Dancing smash “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” Now at 84 years of age, he is readying an unexpected return to radio with Straight From the Heart, due next month on Curb Records. For the first single from the new album, Medley has teamed with another legend and SoulTracks favorite, Michael McDonald. The two distinctive baritone singers join together on a Buck Owens country classic - later taken even higher by Ray Charles - “Crying Time.” Produced by Fred Mollin (Billy Joel), this new version of “Crying Time” captures all of the pathos of the earlier versions.

This is a beautiful rendition buy two great Legends Bill Medley and Michael McDonald. It's unusual to have two baritones sing together. But this worked out very well I know Ray Charles is very proud of Michael McDonald he's the best. Bill Medley fell in love with him when he sang Unchained Melody the Righteous Brothers. You don't get music like that these days let us treasure these Legends as long as we can.

Lovely rendition. I love both of these guys. But I'm confused. the intro says that Vince Gill "originally wrote and released the wistful ballad back in 2006." But Ray Charles released his version of that same song, written by Buck Owens, back in 1966. I remember hearing it on the record player at my aunt's house when I was in my early teens. Do I have something wrong?

Written by Buck Owens , originally recorded by Buck .Then Ray Charles recorded it, it’s been recorded by hundreds of artists, from Barbara Streisand to Dean Martin, even sung sometimes by Elvis Presley in his Las Vegas shows. One of the greatest songs ever written and recorded.

@@KevinMartin1 Well...that may very well be, but back in '09 I kissed a woman in Nashville who had written an unauthorized biography of Buck Owens. Kissed her a whole bunch of times that night. It was fun. She liked to dance the two-step. And once a week she liked to have chicken-friend steak at the local truck stop. That woman was a honkytonk through and through. We fell out of touch after she moved to Texas. I sure hope she's doing well and that her life is good.
