I recall reading somewhere that there were one or two other drummers that took a try at the Aja tune prior to Gadd coming in and nailing it. Is there truth in this? Any idea who and whether there are recordings of this?

"Real artists want to change things up." Cannot say it much simpler than that. But "try this and that." Had to have become frustrating. But they all learned.
