The randomness of drafts. It’s an inexact science most of the time. But yeah, this one perceived as one of the weakest drafts in recent times. The best choice happened to be the #15th pick (Giannis). I would guess the 2024 draft that we just saw will have a random choice turn out great too. Who knows!

Everyone was skeptical cause he was mostly predicted to be like number four, and all of a sudden the odds for him going number one skyrocketted the morning before the draft. It took all of like two minutes of summer league to see that Paolo was head and shoulders the right pick.

In hindsight, it's easy to say they should have chosen Giannis. Same with Gobert. But those guys were both projects and nobody had them near a top 5 pick, much less the top pick. Of the realistic possibilities, Bill was pretty much spot-on in saying they should have taken Oladipo. Of all the guys who went in the lottery, I believe he is the only one who ever made an all star game.

What a crap draft. Overpriced bench players in Free Agency and drafts that hardly ever have generational agents. This is why it takes 10-15 years for teams like the Pistons and Wizards to rebuild
@eliyarrows24566 ай бұрын
You know what’s really funny to think about is how different lebron on the Cavs the second time woulda been had they not messed up this pick. Let’s say they grab Oladipo or Porter. Now it’s another STARTER on the team for when lebron comes back, a starter with serious upside too. Remember they traded the 1st pick to minny for Love and threw Bennett in just as salary. If they have a young budding star (as seen at the time) in Vic, then they might be able to get more or send less to Minny for Love. That coulda given them the depth to win in 2015 even with the injuries. That coulda given them a punchers chance in 2017. Maybe Kyrie doesnt give up and leave in 2018. It’s just interesting to think about how one blunder genuinely coulda costed this team a dynasty.

@GizmoBeach6 ай бұрын
There were 10 players in the 2013 draft who averaged at least 10 ppg. Bennett was 36th at 4.4 ppg and there were 15 players after him in total who played in the NBA w/ a lower ppg average. So yeah, not a great draft.
@d-rockanomaly92436 ай бұрын
I think what happened, because he played very good in high school, exceptionally good, so I think maybe he just matured at a very young age and so when he was playing other kids he was relatively good because of the physical advantage. But that means he also peaked physically relatively early and so when he reached the NBA he's now playing fully physically mature adults and then that's when his lack of skill at that level became apparent. He was good against kids because he was like an adult when he was in high school haha. Makes sense yeah?
