Loved Jack and Vera best days in coronation Street. Lots of comedy brought in that's what's missing today. Brilliant actor no doom and gloom like there is today with Jack. Vera. Hilda .Stan . Thanks Alan for sharing love from Gill Holmfirth West Yorkshire 💙💚

I don't know if you know Crystal but he was one of the few people that went from being an extra for many years on the set of coronation Street into landing one of the main roles and he handled it well. Thank you

Bill and Liz are legends of Coronation street, they were likened to, Hilda and Stan and though I only carried on watching till the Duckworths got the Rovers, their performances helped to ease the loss of those two great characters. I did watch the passing of Jack, when vera came to take him to Heaven and I'm not ashamed to say, I cried my heart out, such a beautiful way for Bill to leave the show and credit to the writers.

Hi, Bernadette hey really did put the humour into Coronation Street. I watched it when they were in their prime. I'll do Vera's soon as I get the chance. And thank you for commenting, it's very nice of you. Regards Alan

Hello Alan, how are you? Keeping well I hope. I often watch your videos, and although they are usually very sad stories, they are still very interesting. I like to hear about people's lives. I once met Bill Tarmey when he appeared at an event in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. I stood next to him, as he wrote his autograph. A memorable day. (A long time ago, back in 1993.) I have always been a very devoted Coronation St Fan ! And have visited the granada studios a couple of times to do the tours. Faye.

BEEP - BEEP. Thanks. Another very interesting upload. I loved Jack, he was a great character, very funny. The Duckworth house wasn't civered in Pebble Dashing, it was covered in Stone Cladding but lets not quibble. Very was so very proud when they had that done 😂. It's understandably that us fans wanted him to stay but his health should have come first, unfortunately all good things come to an end, never know, if he had retired earlier he may have lived longer. RIP 'Jack'.

Bit of a Story about Droylsden Cemetery.. well more about me and my link with it.. Bit long but hey Ho.. i went out with a girl in 1988, Lisa, she lived in Droylsden, came down Gorton with some mutual friends, and we have heard people say that the second they lay eyes on a person, they knew they were the one, well that was me.. the first time i set my eyes on her i said i want to spend my life with her, we started seeing each other, i used to walk her home from Debdale Park in Gorton to Ashton old Rd, then up to to Ashton New Rd, i used to leave her at Windsor Rd/Manor Rd Rd, i absolutely loved that girl, i noticed though that she used to cough and wheeze a bit but i thought she just had asthma, but we was at Debdale one night and she turned round and told me she was dying and didn't know how long she had left, i thought she was joking and told her to stop saying that, then she told me we had to break up, i thought it was a made up story to break up, but i was devastated, she walked away and i never saw her again, for years i used to walk up Droylsden, and because i never knew where she lived i used to just up Windsor Rd and round the estate, just hoping to bump in to her again, but never did, then years later our mutual friend sent me a friend request on Facebook, straight away i sent her a message and just wrote a massive message about Lisa, like a huge essay, after all the rambling i said "so.. how is Lisa doing, what is she doing now" she said sorry, Lisa passed away in 1994 from cystic fibrosis, my stomach dropped, i felt sick, i didn't want to believe it, i had no idea, so it wrecked, All those years i went to Droylsden just walking around trying to find her again, and all that time i never knew she had died. for all those years.. to this day i have never forgot her, she was special, she has been on my mind for 35 years, she is buried in Droylsden cemetery, i have wanted to go see her but i know for a fact that i will ball my eyes out and cry.. it's still hard to believe, it's just something i will never get over. they say Time heals, but this won't. it still hurts.. and i miss her so bad. it's horrible.. i don't wish it on Anyone, even if i didn't like you, i'd still not want you to suffer like this..

Thanks Alan, lovely video, everyone loved Jack…. and Bill was a wonderful actor. I’m trying to work out who is buried with him. The two deaths were only five months apart. You’re nearly at the 1k now, well deserved, such excellent videos. Thank you.

Hi Joan I think I've got this? Beryl was his wife and she died first in June and then you've got William who became the stage name. Bill Tarmey Which changed again to Jack Duckworth. You have to be careful because if you get any detail wrong people tell you straight away. I pronounced the graveyard incorrectly I said Droylsdeen when it should have been Droylsden. I'm a little dyslexic for sure so sometimes I can't help it. at least I've spelt it the graveyard correctly. I'm not very excited about hitting 1000 soon! but a bit :-) Because sometimes the biggest channels are not the best. Mine will not be the biggest but with the best, I can do that's all I can do. I'm going to try and do some people which are not the most popular, but more interesting to me in the future. Let's see how it goes but thank you :-) Alan

Really enjoy your videos as I find them so interesting and you present them beautifully, with knowledge and respect. Thank you Alan. P.S. I enjoy your little comments that you usually say at the end of a video about life etc. You definitely give food for thought and it's nice to hear other people's thoughts on life (and death). Cheers Alan.

Really liking your channel, I'm hoping that a sizeable number of people of a certain age possibly with ageing marriages constantly moaning about almost everything subscribe and like. You are correct...life is incredibly short and can be over in an instant. Watching from inland Spain and consider myself very fortunate to have been gifted a second chance ... Good luck fella and thank you 👍

A man walks into the Rovers and sits down, he looks up and notices three pieces of meat hanging from the ceiling. He asks the bartender “what’s with the meat?” Jack says, “If you can jump up and slap all three pieces at once, you get free drinks for an hour. If you miss even one, you have to pay for everyone else’s drinks for the rest of the night. Wanna give it a go?............. what's the next line ?????

As you drive through the gates of Droylsden Cemetery on your right there is a bench, this is dedicated to a late work mate and good friend of mine Tony who it says served Tameside council for many years. I was based in there for 38 years after 2 attempts to get a permanent job there, which I was successful in doing starting in1969 until I took early retirement in 2007. I first started in 1966..then back again in 1967 ?It was hard at first working in all weathers rain snow but then glorious sunshine, I loved it. I remember seeing Bill Tarmey at someones funeral once whilst I was working in there,I used to cut all the grass in there, well most of it ! Yes my mate Tony used to see Bill Tarmey singing in the Broadoak pub in Ashton. Another thing my wife worked in the Causeway behind the bar and used to serve Bill and his wife, she told me he used to sneak off for a fag and said ''Dont tell Alma,''his wifes name,I think ? Ah well happy times and good memories.😪

Hi Alan I noticed on your motorhome whitby is that where your from? As a kid every year we went to Scarborough so know whitby, Filey all that coast peaszone park treasure Island long john silver. On the Yorkshire lady boat, weather turned so bad they had a ambulance waiting to rough to come into harbour people violently sick the front of the boat you couldn't see as it was so deep into the sea. Never been on a boat since. I remember the best fish and chips, chippy near the harbour never had any to match them. Take care vivxx
