I have big plans for my new Redneck Cabin: to find a spot on one of the ridges where I can use it during the off-season as a scenic getaway and then during the season as a "Redneck Hotel" - a place where I can overnight while hunting nearby, saving a trip all the way back through the farm that would potentially spook a bunch of deer. This fully-insulated fiberglass cabin promises comfort and very low maintenance. You can learn more about the Redneck Cabin here: redneckblinds....

The unfortunate truth about sponsorships... even the great Bill Winke is stuck saying nice things about a generic garden shed.

Ah come on now. That is nicer than a generic garden shed! I am actually excited about getting it out on the farm and using it. That will be a fun place to go for off-season getaways.

Bill are you gonna get one for back home when the Mrs sends you the dog house? Haha In all seriousness this will be a great budget option for people to place on there hunting properties.

Good point! Yes, these should be really popular. Price is good, nice size, very low maintenance. I may spray mine an olive drab color so it doesn't scream at me when I am hunting near it.

A great niche product for a remote property on a low budget. I have a park model home on my hunting property with water, sewer, propane, and electric hookups. While this is a great option for me, it's not as mobile and the maintenance and cost are significant as compared to a Redneck cabin like this. Can't wait to see it set up on your property and how you use it....sure beats sleeping in a drainage pipe or at the base of a cliff. I can see something like this not only for access but also as a place to maintain elevation after a ridge-top hunt to rest without having to hike down and back up later....also a secure place where hunting equipment, basic supplies, and emergency supplies can be kept.

Paul, yes that is how I will use it on our farm. I will figure out where to place it so that I can use it off-season for fun getaways and during the season for overnights to save impact of my (our) coming and going on the deer. I think the drainage pipe is worth at least one night's sleep either way, but not the haunted shack down in the valley!

I have a 14 foot trailer and I am going to set it on that, strap it down and then pull the trailer up the hill with the tractor. That is the plan at least. We will see how it goes.

@bill-winke
@bill-winke Жыл бұрын
If you keep the windows closed I do think you would be OK. Also, probably makes the most sense to place it where the wind direction will work for you and not against you. In other words, if the wind is right for the stand, it would also be right for where you place the cabin - similar to when I was sleeping in the woods. I never worried about scent because the spots where I was hunting were ideal for given wind so my sleeping spot was too, by default.

Awesome. Awesome video I saw these cabins on their website today and I just decided to see if anybody made a video about it and it seems like you bought it for the same purpose that I would want to have it, question, Have you relocated your cabin? And if so, how's it working out? New sub

It works really well. My daughter confiscated it and it is now her office when she is at the farm. Has a desk in it, a refrigerator and I am sure this fall it will have a small space heater and maybe some art for the walls! It would work great as a remote overnight site on the farm to eliminate the need to go to and from distant parts and spook deer (a generator is all you would need on site - at most), but for now at least, this one is staying next to the pole barn. Good luck.

@bill-winke Great, thanks for responding. I got one more question, from your video, and from me doing some research, it seemed like there's only one outlet inside of the cabin. Can you order the cabin with more than one outlet? Thanks And it would be nice to see your daughter's office set-up, maybe do a video?

You could add a couple solar panels and a battery to be able to run a couple 12v lights and that fan along with a charger for your phone or laptop. No need for a noisy and smelly generator that way.

Very good point. I have looked at those systems for campers and they aren't super hard to figure out. That might be something I look at for this. Panels covering at least one side of the roof would run a lot of stuff, if you have a good battery for storage. Thanks for the input, I had not thought of that. I need to pass that along to Danny at Redneck and maybe they can offer the blinds with the solar kit already installed.
@bill-winke
@bill-winke Жыл бұрын
Took a look, solar kits are really expensive. I think a big part of the cost is the battery system. Dang it.
@specag31

@@bill-winkeah brah one deep cycle 12v batt and 2 200 rated panels will run that fan which you will need to suck out the noxious offgasing from even one persons overnight sweaty body and breath. . Seven? You need to down size that plan and hide the beans and weenies MREs. Being air tight has its drawbacks. Think back to your PVC episode. Thats what that cabin is, a harDened PVC suit. As time goes on I guarantee you'll want a bigger cabin, then add another batt wired in series for more volts or parallel for more amps. I think. Youll know if its wrong. If you ever run 120 out there for anything but a shop or house your killing your self for nothing.

It just makes so much sense to have a way to access the "Back 40" once in a three day hunt, and not 3 entry's and exits. I can see a lot of deer being killed by guys that can pull off a sent free camp closer to the hunting spot. With windows like that and proper placement it could cover a food plot or corner of a corn field for a gun hunter as a bonus. Screen it off, along with the access trail using a tall grass, and on a big plot you could come and go as you liked, hidden from eyes out in the plot.
@bill-winke
@bill-winke Жыл бұрын
Yes, agree. It makes tons of sense for that reason, plus if located in a nice spot would be a great summer getaway site on the farm. That is my goal, but I need to come up with a really scenic spot that will also set up well for holing up while hunting.

@bill-winke
@bill-winke Жыл бұрын
Not sure about that Craig. Depends on how you make it. Things might be more expensive than you think to make something that will hold up for many years and be solid enough to move at the same time. I had a "garden shed" built in our lawn at the house last summer for storage. It is nice, well-built about the same size as the Redneck Cabin, concrete slab, but not insulated. It has metal siding. Cost was right around $5k for materials! Makes the Redneck Cabin look a lot better after paying for that.
