R&B has existed in one way or another on the pop charts, but they were generally pushed by acts like Ariana Grande in the late 2010s to mainstream prominence and only made a spurt on the charts for the R&B that flirted with contemporary Hip-Hop and older sounds of mid 2000s R&B. With the success of Boo'd Up, everyone was expecting a pure R&B recovery that didn't happen till late 2020 and 2021, where we are actually seeing an upward momentum of many R&B cuts, from Jhené Aiko, H.E.R., The Weeknd, SZA, and even Jazmine Sullivan, to name a few.

I know that next week, we should expect some NF with Hopsin finally entering the Billboard Hot 100 (probably). I mean, I guess I got my wish by that point in time after Tom MacDonald's fiasco... just wish it was with a better artist, though. Which is a damn shame because Hopsin killed his part in a fantastic manner similar to his song My House... but NF just sounds so fake at points, like what people claim to mock Macklemore for. And unlike Macklemore where he tries to walk his tightrope between seriousness and lighthearted goofiness, NF just has the same stuff that I know Mark doesn't like with NF's other songs in general. Oh yeah, and we might get Machine Gun Kelly entering for a week with his song featuring Corpse from KZbin.

Welp, it is that wild after all! :O NF's track with Hopsin went to 79, while Machine Gun Kelly's track with Corpse went to 88. Of course, I'm not sure if either track's going to last for at least one more week, but at least it's going to make this upcoming video a lot more interesting going forward! I mean, I know Daniel Caesar making his return with Justin Bieber (and also collaborating with Gideon) was also a bit wild as well, though like the appearances of Hopsin and Corpse, it's more due to the unexpected nature of things there.

I unapologetically hate all of the Drake tracks, perhaps a bit irrationally, but it's so hard for me to like them when there isn't one bar from any of them that stuck with me, and when Drake uses so many five-dollar beats. It's so clear that he isn't trying. Also, the hook on "What's Next" sounds whiny as hell, like an NF hook without the bombast. In other words, it actively annoys me both by what it does and by what it doesn't do. Why do we keep rewarding Drake like this?
