@theEXOaudio4 жыл бұрын
@@jasonle520 yes that could be some of the instances. but her point was that if someone didn't like her, they'd say it to her face even if it was few since like you said, "people are afraid to do that" directly in her face. but remember, there are actual critics out there where some of their job is to "critic" what she does. I don't know for you, but if there were people directly saying that in my face, I'd be more bothered rather than a lot of people bashing me on social media because I could just shut down my notifications. and some of the hate today were just bandwagon. imagine, someone to say something in her face means that they really "meant" what they said probably unlike social media where people just jump on the hate train. think about this too: madonna is still active in her career back then and now. so she's also experiencing those "behind the screen" social media hate. I bet if you search i hate madonna there's also hate going on social media on her. but the fact that she told that story where "people used to say it in my face" means that is more bothering and it affected her more than current social media thing. and it was the 80s. I am sure most people were blunt back then. please let's not dive into i-dont-think-you-understand-what-she-meant and just focus on the message of what she's saying. it's that hate will always be there. people should be more considerate of the words they say and actions that they do.

"be what women feel comfortable with you being, around other men" this right here is MASSIVE. we forget as a society that its not only men judging us or labeling us but most importantly its our own kind, women, at times being even more judgmental than the men towards a sexually liberated and daring woman. I personally know many girls like this and they are easily threatened by any remotely attractive woman in their vicinity and it boils their blood to see a girl like that who is confident and unapologetic.

Watching this 7 years later.. what a powerful and profound speech that brought me to tears.. truth is, I used to be THAT woman, the one who judged you, who would criticize you for what you looked like, acted, and behaved, I put myself on a pedestal and thought of myself as a woman of "values" who would never put myself out there as you did. How wrong was I... the beauty of aging brings wisdom though... I now know that subconsciously I was envious, not of your fame or fortune, but envious of your ability to be comfortable in your own skin, so comfortable with who you are, that other's opinions did not matter. My takeaways from this speech are to ACCEPT and embrace who you are, fully, your past and your present, your warts and all that goes with it, and to be GRATEFUL, not only for the people who support and agree with you but more so those that do not, as how you react to those who don't agree with you is your CHOICE, Madonna CHOSE to take motivation and inspiration from those who did not agree with her.

Michael Jackson may have been a pop icon, like many other icons such as Elvis and The Beatles, but Madonna is a pop, culture, feminist, LGBTQ+, overall icon. As a Queer person, Madonna's advocacy for the gay community is something I will always be thankful for.

No one should compare them from each other. They are all great in their own field. Each have their own identity and advocacy. That's why I appreciate them aside from their music. They didn't just sing out there and go home and enjoy every pennies they have. They have shared it to the world. That's all that matters. They truly cared for every fans. Most artists nowadays sadly don't do much charities.

Most of the today's teenagers idols (Beyoncé, Britney, Christina, Arianna, Katy, Rihanna, Cardi B, Ava Max...) have Madonna as their own idol, as mother figure. You really must check how Madonna a professional dancer in 1983 that came out of nowhere and quiker than Ray of Light went viral. She dominated the entire decade through music, videos, live performances, magazines, movies, theater and even the most talked about marriage and divorce to Sean Penn. In 1989, she received the Artist of The Decade 1980s award elected by Billboard, MTV and DYI Musician kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHzQZYeNdtqlrq8 Previously, in 1986, she received the Video Vanguard Award. And people are like a flock of sheep as well, if one critic is slagging her off, then lots of people agree without forming an opinion for themselves. There's so much great music and energy coming from Madonna, as well as interviews, films, quotes... I don’t see men and females separated, I see personality and the human that is standing right in front of me, but society is so focused on gender roles and the mainstream flow that either you have to get real thick skin to survive being yourself emotionally and mentally or you totally loose out. It's a sin to age" so true especially for an entertainer, there's a point where you have to go into hiding so the world doesn't witness the decay of time on your body. And media is aging's biggest enemy. Such a powerful speech. Love u madonna always be yourself.

@@elisabethdakak878 well it often seems like people want to keep stars young forever, people are always shocked when a star, especially women, have visably aged

I confess, I cried watching. I love Madonna and her bravery, for so long was attacked for having an opinion and even then continued fighting.

You cannot even put a sentence together. Put down the crack pipe! Madonna obviously is not irrelevant or millions wouldn't be discussing her and watching her every move! Her last tour just 2 years ago was a huge success globally so Hana you have no idea what you are even saying.

Julie Newman truth is hurt. Kadarshian and kylie jenner's ass are more relevant than her now.

iconic & inspiration. People just don't want to recognize her important role in pop culture. She is genius and brave, she is fragile and explosive. she is the one and only queen

Let’s quit this sycophantic sh*t. You can’t deny her place as one of the most successful artists of all time in terms of units sold - male or female, and she has certainly left her mark and made it easier for those girls who came after. An Icon? Absolutely ! Ultimately though not much innovation - Holiday, Get into the Groove and that image see Bananarama, Vogue see the New York dance scene etc. Can’t think of a single song (not talking record sales here) which would go down as ground breaking or a classic. The greatest singer of all time, really? I think Aretha, Whitney, Celine, Mariah and Adele might have something to say about that....get real

@@DEAD-FROM-NY I think the poor old dear should stick around as long as she and her fans want. The tragedy is that she’s no longer relevant and can’t see it.

10.30minutes well spent. Madonna you're an inspiration. This speech changed my life, anything we do will never be accepted, so it's up to us to change the world. Break the grounds and make our own path. Thank you

What a speech from Madonna !!! Absolutely spoken from the heart. This icon opened the door wide open to most of the current young female artists.
