I started this playlist of videos to collect videos in which I share my experience in getting used to and riding the e-bike I got a month ago. Today's video is full of descriptions of what I have learned about e-biking. I do this to document my own journey into e-biking but also to possibly help others who have just gotten e-bikes or who are thinking about it.
Hopefully, in this video I have provided useful information on the topic and information specifically about my Velotric Discover 1 e-bike.

I've been ebiking for over 10 years. Use the power, enjoy it. You'll go further and use it more often. You're still getting exercise. I have two regular bikes too, the ebike is basically a car replacement.

Ian, thanks for suggestion and commenting! Oh, I will use the power, but right now, my focus is- after not riding for 20+ years - on getting my legs stronger. After a bit over 5 weeks with the e-bike, I can feel that happening.

It’s easy to unlock that bike to get class 3 speeds. I also replaced the 7 speed 14-28t freewheel to a 11-28t and have no more ghost pedaling at higher speeds. This is just an option if you still want to get exercise while moving quickly. I found that helped me use mine as a car replacement much more often.

Thanks. So far I’m happy with top speed of 20 but that could change. Ghost pedaling is aggravating and the freewheel change may be in the future. I need more time on the bike but will keep in mind. Thanks!

Hello you can cycle better than I can. I am working on my ability to ride up to 15 miles. I am still working so don't get to ride as much as I want. I have had my bike since September last year and have little over 500 miles on it. I have tried filming rides but don't know what I'm doing yet. good video looking forward to seeing more. This is my to seeing the country.

Thanks for comment, David. Key is to make it a habit. I’m working on that. RE filming: I prefer to attach camera to bike not myself or my helmet. With the 360 camera, that means you can choose any vantage point to show in final, edited video footage.

Bill the clamp you’re using on the handlebar to mount the Insta 360 appears to be made of plastic on the rotating ball. If so it will eventually fail and you camera will hit the deck. It looks like the one I actually started out with. Subsequently I have purchased three other clamp styles all were superior to the one that I believe you’re using. My most recent one is the Insta 360s stem cap mount on top of the fork. Your video is very good for beginning e-bikers and well done. I ride a Bosch equipped gravel bike class 3. Whenever I pass a cyclist riding an analog bike I tell them not to worry they’re just being passed by an old, fat, out of shape e-biker. 😂 good luck with your e-biking.

Steve, the one I bought through Amazon is titled “Handlebar Clamp Motorbike Mount for Insta360 ACE Pro One X4 X3, X2, X.” Thanks for the heads up. Can’t attach anything to the stem on my Velotric Discover 1, need to use limited space on handlebar. What other good mounts did you use? Thanks RE my video. Hopefully, it might be helpful to some. I’ve got two more like that planned. Ride on!

What I like about people making these ebike videos is that they are going places on their ebike that they would not normally go.. I live next to the Rockies and I would like to have a bike that has the power to get up the mountains and the stopping power of when I am coming down the mountains.. I do like the ebikes that have the bmx handlebars.. That upright position is more comfortable than the mountain bike or street bike position..

Thanks for commenting, Darin. You are so correct! Do you have an e-bike? Thinking of getting one? As I’ve said in previous videos, so far in a month I’ve gone further on this bike than I did on my touring bike in the 20+ years I’ve lived in Lynchburg. Hills are no longer a deterrent!

@@BillBooz Hey Bill.. I am thinking about getting an ebike and they are changing so fast that me waiting is actually helping the process.. I don't need the fastest ebike but one that has a geared hub to get me up the mountains without draining all of the electricity.. I am constantly learning about ebikes and it does sound like having good tires that don't go flat is a big thing too.. There are so many variables to consider..

@@darinsmith2458 - indeed there is much to process. I purchased my 2nd generation Velotric Discover 1 bike at recommendation of our local bike shop and it’s low price on sale at $1,099. Its successor, the Velotric Discover 2 is more powerful yet still a great price. Something you might consider.

@@BillBooz That is a great price.. The ebikes that I am looking at are in the $2000 price range but what I am finding out is that with the changes we are able to get a lot more for that price..

@@darinsmith2458 - Velotric is a relatively new company. Founder was co-founder of Lime Scooters. Sold thousands to cities across country. They started Velotric with an IndieGoGo campaign. Raised $500K in 30 days and produced the Discover 1 which they improved within 1st year. They’ve recently come out with the 2 and several other models. I don’t work for them but am extremely impressed with my bike. Take a look at their line-up. The have already partnered with over 500+ bike dealerships/shops.

I'm more inclined to get a Ebike since I bought a Bat Safe XL lithium 🔋 box to safely store the batteries in my house. Have a EGO electric lawnmower now and all of my lawn tools are battery so getting used to the idea of a electric bike. Have no interest in a electric car.

Is it possible that you have Swiss ancestors? I live close to a village that sounds like your last name. I have read that a large group of people from said village emigrated to America 150 years or so ago and kept the name of their hometown as a family name. Anyway - nice video!

No. The Booz ancestors came from The Netherlands to the Philadelphia, PA, area.
