An even cheaper option for snaps - sew-in metal snaps (or poppers as we call them in the UK) then you just need a needle and thread to attached them rather than the snap pliers. My first set of pads have sewn in snaps and they worked fine for me to try out cloth pads without investing in any extra tools. I got a set of about 30 for 99p from the craft section at a discount store. Sewn in snaps come in smaller sizes and are also slimmer (I was really surprised at how thick KAM snaps are once snapped together so I may end up going back to sewn in anyway).

You can also use buttons and save money. I've used the snap on ones too and they work. But I mainly use buttons because you already have them. Who doesn't already have thread, buttons and thread?

I'm 74 and I don't know why I never thought of this. I think of the money I could have saved. The comfort, and no glues slipping from panties to delicate skin, and seriously paper edges that chafe. Thank you, young lady. My goodness what did our pioneering great grandmothers to. There must also be an interior moisture barrier for incontinence pads. Hmmmmm?!!!!

Keep in mind that they don't have to look pretty to work! I feel the very talented ladies in Etsy make such pretty pads that it makes people who attempt them at home feel bad about their less than perfect pads. DON'T! Nothing wrong with these talented ladies making beautiful pads and selling them, but feel proud for trying to do it yourself even if it's not as pretty. They don't need to be pretty to work and help the environment. 💜

to save even more money you can reuse buttons from old clothes instead of using snaps and put a button on one wing and a button hole on the other and button it when u put it on, it's just as comfortable and only rakes a few seconds longer to put on

I appreciate this video! We had a presentation from some missionaries to Kenya tonight at church. They said one of the most requested items recently are feminine products for the women. I want to learn to make these to donate to them and include in the age-appropriate *Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child* gift boxes at Christmas! Thank you for passing on your knowledge! I actually have a brand-new Baby Lock sewing machine that I hope to learn how to use from some talented ladies at church…I pray God helps me out on that one! 🙏✝️🎄🥰

Your videos are amazing!! You speak clearly and slow enough that they are incredibly simple to follow ❤️ For anyone looking to make a stash for low cost - hit up the thrift store! A queen or king sized flannel bedsheet will make loads of pads for a very low cost. FYI - flannel cores tend to need more layers than you think though (especially if you are using household flannel as opposed to diaper flannel which is much heavier). 4 layers for a light, 6 for a moderate, 8 for a heavy absorbency.

I'm like you. I like to sew my own pads too. I got my flannel fabric at thrift shops using shirts, a pillow case, about 3 old towels and a pajama set. I just cut off the seams into big pieces then I cut out the fabric into pad design and the towels into shapes of pads and sewed them. It sounds strange but it works.

I'm a beginner I have a brother sewing machine. I'm struggling.....at what point do I know when to flip it inside out? Also the last two I sewed a didnt flip them inside out I just sewed the backer on and that's it because if I would have turned it inside out you would see the middle absorbent part. I'm trying to get my lines straight is so hard I guess cuz I dont really see where I'm going just sewing around the fabric.
