This song got so many dislikes because Christians came after her hard for this, and for referencing god as “she”. She mentioned it in an interview and added that she was just trying to make a song about climate change. If you listen to the lyrics, the climate change/global warming theme is strong. She finds creative ways to get her messages out. Also, I know you’re more focused on the production/composition of the music, but at the end of the video did you notice the silhouettes of the women dancing in the fire?

Thanks for the reaction/analysis. My sense is that a good percentage of the 300K dislikes on this video are from people who never listened to it and could not get past the hellscape imagery and the word "Hell" in the title. The song is actually about Climate Change (Hills burn in California... Don't say I didn't warn ya) and that "God herself" should turn her back on humanity because we brought this upon ourselves, leading to the final refrain "There's nothing left to save now." Keep the journey going with your intelligent content.

Loved seeing another video from you. Hope you are doing well in this quarantine situation that has gotten the world upside down! A lot of people reacted to this video and song in a negative way due to her referencing Lucifer etc (getting the message quite wrong and twisting it) but it's quite simple yet clever how she put it down in the lyrics, as well as in the video visuals. The references to climate change are evident in the lyrics and the religious references give contrast and reinforce the idea of why should angels or god save people from destroying themselves/their environment if they are so foolish that they do it to themselves, and what is there to save if that is the case. Always enjoy your reactions and the way you break down a song, and seeing your smile brightens my day.

Great reaction. There are two versions of this song: This version begins with "My Lucifer is Lonely" and the second one begins with the chorus as the introduction as shown live acoustic on The Howard Stern Show, and a produced live version at The AMA show, both are great. The Howard Stern acoustic really shows off her vocals as she does more cool adlibs.

Billie and Finneas argued over the beginning of the song. Billie wanted "My Lucifer is Lonely" and ended up winning the argument. She said in a later interview that she was wrong, and now agrees that starting with the chorus is better. That's why the live versions are different.

Not many reaction to his stuff but he is very well known to musicians and composers. His stuff is very fun for reactions. This song was really hard to put together and I am speaking about the lyrics,,, because most of what I was producing at the time was to program and let my daughter be apart of the music process singing and so on... in the middle while they been stealing my lyrics and everything, I kept producing songs for my girl friend and our daughter that they took... so I am not even sure if my daughter got the privilege to be involved... but it was all written for my daughter to be apart of... writing these lyrics for my little girl was my poor ability to be there for her and be here daddy because I was always away stuck poor.... they kept stealing my news... the black slime ahhh there is alot about that theory... hybrid, first baby slime ha... thanks for the video... its been tough to try and deal the world in compassion and melodic phrases... its a gift... she can sing and write!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we all had to improvise

Sorry if you've already considered or heard it, I would be really interested in your reaction to Bury A Friend by Billie Eilish. I'm more of a rock/metal head but when I first saw that music video and heard the song I was absolutely gagged and transfixed, absolutely unable to predict what would happen next, and was so gripped I couldn't even really process the incredible nature of the experience in time. It was so unlike anything else I'd ever experienced. Considering how intensely you experience music i really wonder if it would be as heart stopping a sensory onslaught for you as well! And I feel like you've analyse it musically in a way I couldn't articulate Additionally I'd be really interested if you reacted to Xanny. As a chronic depressive, the level of drowned and suppressed she behaves and speaks in that video was very intense. If acting out the suppression of a drug, its what inexperience in my motor functions during bad episodes. So very strangely it has become a sort of theme music with the exact same resonance as myself during those times. Its comforting to be musically encompassed in that feeling.
