the song is actually about her strong relationship with her brother. she had a dream about killing herself, hence the lyrics ‘so i stepped off the golden’ and also elucidating the fact that the single art is actually the infamous Golden Gate Bridge where a lot of suicides occur. the dream she had, no one actually cared or noticed that she killed herself and turn their backs on her. however, the entire chorus in the song is actually something that Finneas, Billie’s brother, said to her after hearing what Billie had dreamt about. this song is all about their unbreakable relationship as siblings. hope this helps to interpret the song a little differently ❤️

At first I was a bit hesitant to jump on the billie eilish train (didn’t hear her songs yet at the time really) bcuz she was popping everywhere. But... my god. There is nothing basic about her music. I fell in love with it. I’m so inspired by how well she can translate her emotions into art.
@DC-bp8sx5 жыл бұрын
Sara Stankovic i know people who have gone to her concerts and they said the vibe is like nothing they have ever seen and felt before. The whole crowd is so engrossed in the moment with her and sing every single word with her. They said there was 60 year olds there with their grandkids by the looks of it and they were all smiling and singing along too. Honestly I feel this girl was brought into the world for a reason, Before her the teen girls all looked up to the instathots and kardashians. Look at Kylie Jenner, every teenager wanted to be her. Now so many more look up to Billie as the coolest teen alive, with her laidback cool demeanour (unlike nasty Kylie who’s well known for being snotty to fans) Unique style, great relationships with her family, talent and how she refuses to be caked with makeup and wears comfy clothes SHE likes. To my knowledge this is the first time in history teens have ever had such a positive role model. Billie being a role model to so many young people will change music and people forever I feel. In 20 years SO many people will come out saying she inspired them to be themselves and not cave to what’s ‘sexy’ and cool according to people like the kardashians. I’m excited to see the effect she has on the generation she is influencing to just enjoy life and be themselves.

This song hits me in my feelings. It reminds me of me and one of my older brothers. When I had bad dreams when we were kids he would come get me and sit with me until I calmed down and we’re still close to this day (we’re 38 and 45 now) Plus the song is just gorgeous. I love hearing her voice mature thru the course of her career. This is my favorite vocal of hers so far and Finneas’s production is stellar

The artwork is an interpretation of the Golden Gate Bridge. The song relates to a dream she had where she committed suicide by jumping off it "off the Golden" and nobody including her friends or fans seemed to care
@alt3r3dst0rm35 жыл бұрын
From what I've read other places this is really about her having a dream about stepping off the golden gate bridge and no one cared then her brother was there to comfort her after she woke up.
@paulhelberg52695 жыл бұрын
Aside from the suicide dream aspect, this lovely song is an homage to her brother Finneas who contributes his talents to her music and supports her as a good, big brother should. Finneas is the true unsung hero of Billie's world and it's nice to have her express her love and appreciation for all he does. Sad and sweet, like so much of her catalog. I Love it!!!

“God knows I’m not really in her demographic...” I’ve been a hard core Pink Floyd fan since my teen years and the debut of The Wall album so you can imagine my age. As a Billie Eilish fan that is way out of her demographic, I’m not in the least self conscious. Between her and her brother, they are a creative duo that transcend traditional demographic appeal.

I think this song is also talking about how people who are suicidal wish to die without anybody noticing because they don't want a reaction they just want to go away. and that's why shes starts to describe as a dream when in reality that's a nightmare. I can relate to that when I was going through tough times in my life I would feel like I want to die but without actually anybody noticing.

Marijn Timmer I’m curious as to what you mean by “limited vocalist”
@sexinochica55 жыл бұрын
@@marijntimmer958 what makes her limited?Because the ability to sing as she does with such air and breathe control and harmonizing..that is talent at best..and she co writes and is very strongly involved in all music videos and she is is a designer..Literally a definition of NOT LIMITED
@marijntimmer9585 жыл бұрын
@@sexinochica5 you know a lot about singing techniques? Cause reading your comment i guess you don't. The soft whispery style of eilish, is an easier form of vocal ability. Because a softer sound, is easier to control. The louder you try to sing, the higher your range gets and the more power you try to give, the voice gets harder to control. And its harder to keep a note. She almost has no vocal variety, and never uses her chestvoice for example. Simply because she does not have the range. Her octave range is very limited. As for the part where you say that she is involved in almost every process, yeah i'm not gonna explain al that in a youtube comment. I work in the music industry as plugger/promoter and trust me that everything she does is checked upon and controlled by her label. She's is signed to interscope, which is originally a promotion/publishing company. So there is an extremely big marketing team behind her who contol everything she does. And thats perfectly fine, but people need to stop acting like billie is the full creative force behind everything. Without interscope backing here she never would've been an overnight sensation with ocean eyes. And she definitely wouldn't be as big as she is now. There is a much bigger picture.
