Actually when she says “Sorry, there’s no way out but down” she is talking about suicide. On some interviews she says that gladly she never got on that point but this was her way to connect with her fans that battle with depression just like her.
@MissMollyDoll311
@MissMollyDoll311 5 жыл бұрын
Rafaela Pavessi a lot of her songs are also about fears and being on either side of a suicide is an underlying fear that so many people live with. Either you're the person who is struggling and you fear that one day you won't he able to go on, that you'll hurt everyone you love by actually going through with it, or someone you love is the one who's struggling and you live with the fear that they'll lose their battle. There's so much fear and guilt built into the topic that it's hard to process in that split second it takes to make the choice to take your own life. It's sad for the people who have to deal with the loss but it's also unfair to make someone go on living a painful existence just because you want them around. So much to unpack in this song but that's why I love it. ❤❤💔

I'm 65, have been an intensely serious music fan all my damn life, and I love Billie and her music. I find her intelligent, creative, artistic, and adventurous. She's 17 and she has a lifetime of surprising us in front of her. I've seen her live. Will see her again on the new tour this year. She is the whole package. Music. Art. Fashion. Badass creativity. Best thing to come down the music road in decades... and I don't say that lightly.

Omg, I literally almost start crying every time I hear that song, it just puts me into the state of mind from only two years ago, and gives me the ability to feel so sad and sympathetic towards my past self. Idk, every time I hear the song I imagine the music video for my story (sorry if this gets kinda annoying, lol, but I really wanna explain it out). Like over the course of the song, literally pieces of someone would start falling off, and then at the end, most of the person is gone and you can barely recognize them, and they jump off the roof, but as they do a new version of themselves appears from the broken pieces. There's only a few differences in the new person. Idk, maybe a new hairstyle or clothes or something, idk. Then they just walk away. It's very symbolic of what I had to go through. It might sound really lame or something, idk, but yeah. Sorry for the rant, lol

👍👍👍 for reactions 2:44 yes that's a fan video, a better version is "Six Feet Under, Sofar Los Angeles" on youtube 4:05 yeah she knows how to make grown men cry 11:41 about her fan base, she answered the question like this in an interview: they're all over, all ages, but these are issues that teens encounter for the first time in life and they are clueless even to talk about much less find solace. Her topics of losing love, suicidal thoughts, fear of falling in love, fear of aggression, prescription drug abuse, environmental degradation, etc., are all complex emotions that teens need help dealing. Not all teens are into Disney-style happy child-like innocence dancing in mini skirts and pointed boobs. These topics are as shocking as a music label developed starlet saying the f word in front of 100,000 people in a live concert. Billie's showing a big fat middle finger to the status quo.

Bury a friend catch my attention and since the album had been out I'm listening it, become my most heard album from the last 180 days on last.fm scrobbler. She gives me Björk vibes (another must listen artist, fan here). I'm curious and hyped about Billie's next years. Also is valid to mention how good is the album production is ("when we fal asleep, where did we go?", with the exorcist like cover) .

I wish I'd never picked up a pill. At 15, I tore my ACL and miniscus; the doctor gave me so many Percocet after surgery. My parents even monitored the dosing and kept the pil ls, but I would stash and steal them when I could. This was 20ish years ago, before we knew how addictive opiods were. I can honestly say I was addicted from the first pill. The feeling it gave me was indescribable. I felt superhuman. I also did terrible things to keep that feeling. Decades later, I'm on Suboxone for opioid addiction still. I haven't been able to kick this crutch. I have a real appreciation for Billie and I'm so happy she's anti-drug (or so it seems.) For all of you struggling out there, keep on trying for sobriety. You may not always stay on track but it's a worthy pursuit. I wish you all well.

It made me happy as hell that she's a viral, popular artist who not only doesn't glorify drugs, but flat out says no to them, tells the truth about what peer pressure feels like and what it feels like to have all your friends around you change into people you don't recognize or like at all because of drugs. Every bit of it is true. So if you're one of those kids who feels like this, you're doing the right thing by not following the crowd, it sometimes feels like you're being left behind but you're not, they're the ones left behind in their childish, poor decision making, blaming everyone but themselves for their actions. I vividly remember feeling this way in high school. All my friends were taking drugs, smoking, going to hook up parties and I'm over here thinking I'm bad as hell for taking my moms car late at night to get coffee and walk through the woods with my fellow lames. 😂 BUT THOSE WERE SOME OF THE BEST NIGHTS IF MY LIFE! We actually talked about our dreams and sang songs together and went on walks through the woods late at night instead of just staring at each other, high off our asses, hoping one of us doesn't die..

Xanny helped me appreciate her so much as a person, someone that I can relate to. My dad’s struggled with alcoholism and cocaine addiction, and I just turned 21 this year. My friends from high school have all had their “21st birthday” experiences, getting drunk, shit faced, going to hookah lounges... We go out to eat at restaurants and they offer to buy me drinks, even my own mom. Not interested in that shit, you know? I refuse to be like my dad and go down the same path. “Don’t give me a xanny, now or ever...”

So everyone says Ocean Eyes is their first song but it was the first big single. 'Six Feet Under' was used on an MTV show "Sweet/Vicious" and that's actually the video for it. I LOVED the bit that the show used & that's how I first learned her name. Then 'Ocean Eyes' came out on Soundcloud and I KNEW in my bones she was going to blow up simply because her vocals are phenomenal. So the wait for her EP was forever and then she kept releasing her videos of her singles from her latest LP "When we go to sleep, where do we go" did so well that there's now a craving for lyric videos of every song. Almost like Melanie Martinez's "Dollhouse" LP. Also Billie is supposed to be the monster under the bed, that's also why it's called "Bury a Friend" since the song is told from the perspective of the monster under the bed... so when you rehear the song lyric, it will make more sense. She tries to make herself a character before she writes her songs so they may relate to her in a sense but she's also trying to be someone else. I LOVE her & I'm 38. But I still love new music and popular music which my family calls all sound alike... EXCEPT for Billie's music LOL. They dig everything I've played for them.

That tired weak sorry at the end of listen before I go and the sirens get me every time! And btw in the song Xanny it is about Billie Elish dealing with friends who do drugs and drink and how it affects her, but she doesn’t do that stuff luckily.

I just wanted to applaud you for quitting smoking. My mom smoked when I was younger and when she quit, even I remember how hard it was. She still gets cravings nearly 10 years later. Addiction isn’t a joke.

Him guessing this is a suicide song, he’s right. She is talking about how she wants someone to take her to a rooftop when she’s dead so she can see the world

A man good reaction bro. Can we get a Slipknot 3 piece? Wait and bleed, surfacing and snuff? Those would be great for a balanced 3 piece no biscuit reaction.

Idk im 15 and i love billie honestly really connect with her messages. Everyone i know does drugs and ive been suicidal since 13. Hell ive done drugs when i was younger. It was a prescribed medicine for ADHD called concerta. I used to go all day without eating or speaking. I was a zombie. I hate myself still and am still fighting from my plan to commit suicide. Honestly 'kids nowadays' arent given enough credit for feeling and even understanding these emotions.

Billie isn't saying she feels like she's missing out for not doing drugs, she doesn't understand why her friends would want to do that to themselves. "What is about them?" = why are they so great? "I must be missing something" = I don't understand. I'm not well versed in music terminology, but I think it's the bridge where she says it best. "Please don't try to kiss me on the sidewalk on your cigarette break, I can't afford to love someone who isn't dying by mistake in silver lake." = I love you, please stop engaging in actions that lead to a premature death (in silver lake means old age).
