1:33 No one seems to be giving Billie enough credit for this part. I loved that she complimented Freema, even though she was jealous. Rose and Martha's characters were both amazing and I respected them both so much more because of Journey's End. Even though Rose was bitching at first, things turned around after Martha made it clear she wasn't a threat at all: 'Oh my god he found you.' Their hug was so cute. Wish we would have had more scenes with these two together.

as a child i didnt like martha because she had a crush on the doctor, and he already had a thing with rose. when martha left i kept saying to the tv, come on hurry up martha, leave! but now that im an adult and not a 7 year old, ive grown to appreciate martha for who she is and what a good character she is. series 3 is still my least favourite lol, but its still really good.

I really, _really_ adore Rose. Many don't seem to like her character but each to his own, right? And yes, she has flaws but nobody likes a Mary Sue. I also don't understand why people hate Martha. In Martha's defense, it's just really difficult to follow Rose's act. After Rose, it was quite obvious it would be hard to win us over. And I liked that she left the Doctor of her own accord, that was very brave of her.

That's true, I agree with you. I still don't particularly like Martha as a character, but that's not Freema's fault. She acted her character well, I just happened not to like it. For me, the golden era of Doctor Who was David Tennant with Billie Piper. Rose and the tenth Doctor are my favourite by far, and I'm basically still in mourning that they've gone...!

Yes... her leaving was the most heartbreaking moment ever!! She came back, abandoning her family, mickey, everyone, cause she wanted to stay with the doctor till the end of time... she really was special! Also she wasn't posh or anything, just a very regular person which made it soo easy to relate to her. I really wish she had done a year or two more...

For sure, but David Tennant said something similar about leaving as well. He said that it was better to leave while was still fun then stay on until it was boring. Anyways, you can probably expect to see Rose in the 50th special. If she isn't in it, I'll be cross, because to me and many people she is THE companion of the relaunch.

I think our instinct as her fans is to defend her, because we see people overlooking how intelligent, strong, capable, and mature (and yes BEAUTIFUL) she is simply because the Doctor did not return her feelings. Simply because Rose came first. If Martha had come first, and Rose breezed in after Martha was trapped in a parallel universe? I dare say things would be different.

It doesn't bother me that the Doctor didn't return her feelins and she quickly got over those feelings anyway and it doesn't bother me that Rose came first. What does bother me is when people hate Martha for reason that aren't true and cheering on the death of Martha. Martha was an amazing person and doesn't deserve that.

Matt Smith's contract is up in 2014, so he's got the 8th season left at least. Maybe they'll get it renewed, but I doubt it. 3-4 years seems like the average run for an actor playing The Doctor, so I think 2012 is when we will see the 12th.

I liked Martha but she came to the doctor at a really sensitive time...he had just said goodbye to Rose and Donna had turned him down...Martha loved the doctor and he liked her but she just came at a really awkward time...she had great qualities though...she's one of the strongest companions and she's very smart and resourceful...but I did love Rose a lot

Aww.. I love Billie Piper. While I do wish she'd stayed on with Doctor Who and done more, I can understand why she left. It's a crazy intense schedule, and she also didn't want to only do Doctor Who for the rest of her acting career. Besides, even though I didn't like Martha at first, she grew on me, and Donna's epic. Also apparently the BBC hired a guy who looked like William Hartnell to fulfill the role of the 1st Doctor for something related to the anniversary, and really I'm curious about their intentions. Everyone knows by now that Rose Tyler is returning for the 50th Anniversary.... And if you didn't know, she's the only "past" companion confirmed to return for the 50th (As far as anyone knows!)... And it's also been claimed that no other Doctors (Doctors 4-9) are returning for the show's BIGGEST ANNIVERSARY YET!! Apparently the Tenth Doctor is the only one confirmed to return! It wouldn't make sense NOT to put some of the great past doctors and companions to return!

For Martha, season 3 was about her growing as a person and becoming sure of herself, and then eventually realizing that she didn't want to sit around pining over a grief-struck Timelord whose lifestyle, by the end of the Year that Never Was, Martha wanted nothing to do with. She was too badass for that shit. PS Not everyone hates Martha.
