BILLINGHAM SUCKS then ROCKS

Description...for lift tours. The last lift will be featuring in my next video :)
BUT THAT'S IT - It confirms something that I've know since about 2014 - all public lifts are either modernised or new. This doesn't help the mrmattandmrchay channel who seek out the older generation of lifts that have more character to them. I mean, a Kone Ecodisc you can find anywhere. Once you've seen one, all the rest are very similar and if you need to see one of these then you can probably find one in your local town.
I seek relays, loud motors, abrupt movements, unusual bangs - come on lifts SPEAK TO ME! ...I need to know just how old you are!

The ‘end lift’ is actually the first lift you came to. There is another two floor goods lift further down near the fish and chip shop

We had an old pickerings lift in our local shopping centre, I recently found it had had its buttons modernized, along with voice added, no LED screen though. I was rather disappointed.

I have been meaning to say to you. I see from your Cumbernauld (what's it called?) comment that you have obviously been to Scotland, however there is a pub in Glasgow that has a lift you may like. I know you tend to like lifts from the 60s and 70s, with lamps and big buttons, however this lift is even older and has none of that! It is one of the really old ancient type with the doors you have to move yourself, and only one motor speed, and the best part? It is in an open area, so the public can use it! Interested?

MATT!!! When did you visit Billingham? I could have met and shook hands with the legend of lift videos! ;) I had an old 2010 video of the council office lift before the new silver gate was fitted and buttons updated... I wonder if I still have it somewhere... I hope I haven't deleted it on my HD by mistake. :/ You should have visited Thornaby btw.... there's an Otis original in this grubby hotel next to the shopping centre. I haven't had time to actually film it yet, but so far it isn't modernised.

I wouldn't say it is a death trap. It is really interesting for a video, but still now I feel like I have to take a shower immediately... Not just because of the lift, but the whole place is *yuck*. Thankfully youtube is audiovisual only, no smells. :) Thanks for (literally) walking the extra mile!

Nice and slightly grotty place! The lift looks a bit like a dumbster, it's pretty corroded on the inside.
